Good product and bonus items are beneficialThis is my third order of this product. Some people have given mixed reviews, but I have found the backscratchers to be effective and sturdy. In addition, they threw in a couple of bonus products - the skinny backscratcher and a wooden knife that could be used for picnics or whatever,but I find the little wooden knife to be a great massage tool with multiple surfaces being useful for various massage techniques. I don't think thatSeller has recognized the value of the little bonus wooden knife, but it is a great addition to the package. 5Poor quality but still works.Poor quality control. Whatever lacquer or polyurethane was used to coat them is caked on randomly and flaking/chipping off. There are also bamboo splinters on each cut and hole for the strings which came loose immediately and feel like something you just ripped off your pant leg. Mass produced and shipped without any care. Still gets the job done and good for the price, but wow. 2BEST. SET. OF. BACK. SCRATCHERS. EVER!!Nothing but wonderful things to say about this Bamboo Back Scratcher . I have not to this day been compensated for any of my reviews (Although my reviews would still be my own, I'd like to be given the opportunity ).So, with all that being said, here is my review.1) This Bamboo Back Stratcher is substantial, thicker than most I've used and seen, of great length and well made. (Not like some which are made cheaper or with less thought and time.)2) It has nice curves for gripping and stability while scratching.3) The clear coat on these bamboo scratchers are well coated and smooth.4) The scratching end is of appropriate width, scratching ability (don't want to say sharp ) and gets the scratching job done when you say, for instance, your Husband/BFF isn't home to relieve the itch for you .5) Also makes a great scooter thingy for when you are having a lazy day and can't reach the remote that you or someone else left on the other side or end of the bed, you can use it to hook and scoot towards you . Yes, lazy I know, but that's the idea behind a lazy day .6) Comes equipped with a hole and string to hang on the wall if you so choose.7) Comes with a total of 3 bamboo scratchers of the same length, a bamboo knife spreader and if your lucky like me, it came with a Bonus Slightly smaller Scratcher . Did I mention BONUS?? Something which I did not expect!! WOO HOO!! Who doesn't love free extras?!8) Delivered on time with my prime shipping. Even faster "Same Day Prime" available if you purchase $35 dollars worth of eligible items. Which I LOVE!! Same day deliver is amazing!! #GratefulForAmazonAnd did I mention I LOVE this company!? Well, I do. Instant love. No better back Stratchers out there. Not that I have found. And I've had many store bought, cheap, and always break. These, seem to have more "umph" to them if you will and I don't have doubts of these lasting many, many years with minimal care.I hope this review and pictures was helpful to anyone looking for a exceptional set of Back Scratchers!! The wifey boss is always itching her back, so these save me, because I'm lazy, from having to scratch her back ALL THE TIME and 4 of them, and for about the price of a lunch meal!! What whattttt. Now all I need is to get the portable one so that she can scratch her back out and about. 4Should be thinner and longer. Excellent quality and made in USA though...For my taste the larger sticks are too wide and too short. The smaller stick is much better and is the only one out of the set I use but it is still shorter then I would prefer. Good quality. Made from super strong bamboo. Plus made in the USA! 3Now THIS is a back scratcher! (Well, three, actually... ;)I started out looking for a plastic back-scratcher because where I really need one most is in the shower, and I didn't want to ruin the wooden one my husband uses. But so many of the reviews for the plastic ones complained that the shafts would bend when you applied any pressure at all, and that just wouldn't do for me. My back REALLY itches all winter and when I scratch I don't want to just tickle around enough to just make it itch more (which is why I need a back scratcher instead of letting my husband do it - he's just too gentle and afraid he'll hurt me if he scratches as hard as I want!)So I got these wooden ones figuring "well, at least when one gets all moldy from being in the shower constantly, I can replace it, they're cheap enough!" But when they arrived I realized they are probably the absolute best value I could have got for twice the price. They are thick and sturdy and much wider and easier to hold than your average wooden or plastic souvenir back-scratcher. I honestly would have paid more for just one of these, if I had known how good they are.Also, the first one doesn't seem to be getting ruined at all by staying in the shower all the time. Maybe that's one of the special properties of bamboo, or maybe the finish is just a really good sealant. So instead of saving them as backups, I may just give the others away as gifts - I know they'll be appreciated! 5Decent enough to get the job done - but watch out for splinters!These are perfectly functional for the job they are designed to perform and they are a pretty good price to boot. The length is adequate to get all the way down to the small of your back and the scratching end won't tear up your skin if you go easy with it. UPDATE November 17, 2011: all 3 of these are still in use in our house so I should add that while they may be light in actual weight, they are clearly durable and long-lasting. This makes them even a smarter purchase for the price when you consider that you will not have these things snapping in half on you after rigourous or frequent use by multiple household members and, unlike plastic, these leave a much smaller carbon footprint on the planet.My only concern when I got them were the splinters that were present on all three of mine in the exact same place - on the scratching finger end on the left side. This is clearly caused by the method used to separate the soaked and formed bamboo in manufacturing. The good news - there's a simple, cheap and very easy fix for this MINOR flaw. One can take a household sanding unit such as that Black & Decker Mouse thing ( Black & Decker MS800B Mouse Detail Sander With Dust Collection ), your Pedi-Paws Pet claw sander as seen on TV but remove the plastic guard first ( Ontel Products Corp Pet Nail Trimmer Pedip-Mc6 As Seen On Tv ) or best yet, just a plain old emery board such as the Double-sided Emery Boards - box of 144, 4 1/4" - 4 5/8". Take one of the above and file down the splintered ends until smooth. When satisfied, seal your back scratcher with a little clear nail polish, let it dry completely and you're good to go! I used my Pedi-Paws Pet nail trimmer by removing the guard. That stupid device doesn't do crap for trimming pet claws but it does work as a handy rotary sander! it fixed these babies right up and since most households have either clear nail polish on hand or can run and buy a small bottle for a buck, it's worth doing.After I sanded the rougher edges down on all three and sealed them with clear nail polish, I haven't had any trouble with them since I bought them and used one just this morning. They're helpful for women in the winter who might be wearing layers and don't want have to disrobe to get at that pesky itch right under the back of her bra hook! That was my issue this morning and it got me to thinking, "wow, I've had these a long time and they are still going strong! Maybe I should update my review!" So, here I am to report that they are still working just the way they were intended to by the manufacturer. The flaw I mention is minor and so easily repaired that it should not dissuade you from a purchase. Just file them and seal them as I described and you'll be a happy camper! 4I could do without the adsLet's get that bonus out of the way: the travel size is not really suitable for travel. For that, you'd do better with a collapsing/expanding back scratcher, of which there are a zillion available at low prices. Also, for reasons I don't know, the travel version isn't nicely lacquered like the full versions. But it works and may be fine for a smaller person. On to the full size scratchers. There are three, so several people can have their own. The "teeth" of the scratching head are more for looks than any particular use. They aren't pointy, so you aren't likely to work up a scrape on your skin, but they give a decent scratch. There's a little red string at the other end for hanging it up and, if the string breaks, the hole is a decent size for putting in a sturdier cord or rope. The lacquer on the gadget is a bit uneven. There weren't any splinters, but I did find rough patches. The part that annoyed me incredibly is the advertising. I don't mind a tasteful logo, and there is one right below the scratching head: "BambooMN.com, for all things bamboo." Okay, got the message. So why did they emblazon the handle further, with "BambooMN.com, Bamboo Picks, Skewers and Catering Supplies, 952-591-1570, StoneAndBamboo.com, YarnAndSocks.com"? Really, I could do without the ads. Well, it isn't as if I'll be so short of reading material that I'll be doomed to re-reading this daily. I'll stick with a scratch! 3Scratches my itch!These are thick bamboo and are covered in some kind of protective laminate.I probably could break it if I tried... but why would I try? I like that they are good quality, so they will probably last forever.You do get three, just like it says, and they are LONG (yay) and really good at scratching my back without hurting me. They don't bend, so as much force as you put into it, you get out of it.On the one hand, I really didn't need three, but on the other hand, I never have a situation in which I'm itchy and cannot find my scratcher :) Oh... and you could have one on one hand and one on the other hand and have one left over in case you're really skilled at using your feet :)I keep one in the tub (better than one of those long brushes, but I have some of those, too) one on the night stand, and one in the drawer, just in case.I think it's stress? I don't know, but sometimes I get so itchy I cannot stand it and these scratchers really feel good! 5
