- Blackberry - Rubus fructicosus - (Bramble) - Usage - Bramble leaves were used as an astringent and tonic; for intestinal health, diarrhoea and haemorrhoids; as a poultice to help support burns, swellings and irritations; and as an infusion for stomach concerns. Externally, they were used as a mouthwash, and as a gargle for a sore throats and gum inflammations. Culpeper recommended the leaves be used in a lotion for sores "in the secret parts". The ancient Greeks recommended bramble for bone heal
