its aiight but not sure how its madei took the recommended dosage for months, then accidentally double dosed once. What a happy accident. I was wondering if I had been feeling any difference at all when taking the ALCAR, but once i upped my doseage, the effects were pretty obvious.I dont exactly trust bulk supplements since most of their ingredients come from agricultural areas known for high levels of soil toxicity in china/asia pacific, but then again who can you trust to begin with?I have no idea if this is good quality or not but I did notice energy and some enhanced mental wellness. 4Others only tell half the story - here's the rest[+] THE OTHER HALF OF THE STORYThis is a great product, but it only tells half the story. People take this product to boost mental and physical performance. I'm only focused on the mental performance, and this is why everyone is telling you half the story about that.The boost to mental performance revolves around boosting the ActylCholine neurotransmitter. The neurotransmitter is made up of two molecules: ActylCholine neurotransmitter = Actyl group + Choline group. This product, Acetyl L-Carnitine is made up of an Acetyl group bonded to the L-Carnitine amino acid. When digested, the two components detach thus freeing up the Actyl group to bond to a Choline group and also freeing up the L-Carnitine amino acid to be metabolized. The L-Carnitine amino acid is what boosts physical performance. The Actyl group is what I am most interested in for mental performance. Remember what I said about the Actyl group bonding to a Choline group? But what if there is no Choline group to bond with? Well, then you don't magically get the ActylCholine neurotranmitter with just the Actyl group alone. There needs to be Choline and you might not be getting enough Choline from dietary intake alone.That's why, for increased mental performance, it is just as important to take a Choline supplement to make sure there is the second half of that equation available to manufacture the neurotransmitter. And, that's the other half of the story everyone else is missing. If you learned something from this, then throw me a helpful vote.[+] THE REVIEWThis product has saved my life and my pocket book. I use this product in combination with Bulksupplements Choline L-Bitartrate Powder (250 grams) in a 2:1 ratio respectively. This combination works very effectively at maintaining mental acuity over longer periods of time. At first I used NOW Alpha GPC 300 mg,60 Veg Capsules, but popping those every day became very expensive. So, I searched for a cheaper alternative. Fortunately, I found this combination, which works as well if not better.This product, along with the Choline supplement, has given me my mind back (i'm in my 50's). The Acetyl group is needed to combine with choline to make Acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. I take about 1/2 teaspoon daily (with 1/4 teaspoon Choline) to keep my mind sharp. If your just starting this product, I recommend taking less to start out with. Maybe take 1/4 teaspoon every other day and increase from there. The reason is because when your body can produce more neurotransmitters, it does so everywhere, not just in your mind. Neurotransmitters are also used to control your gut, muscles, etc. Taking too much too fast could result in gitters or an active GI. If that happens, just stop taking until symptoms go away and then start up again. The symptoms are not telling you something bad is happening; it is telling you something good is happening. Don't take my word for it. There are books written about this subject by people who have much more knowledge than I do. Don't let your mind wilt away with age.ps. Only problem is that you end up taking way more than you're supposed to. I burned through it way faster than one month. But just because you have to dip a spoon in there and you end up taking more than you're supposed to. Which is awesome in terms of effect. You really feel it. Doesn't taste so good. Super tart. But that's no big deal. You get over it. Mixes well in anything as long as you can deal with sour flavor. Good rush though. Mental and physical. 5brainworksI ordered this synthesized form of Acetyl-L-Carnitine along with GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) per my nutritionist to help my father with his memory issues. He has developed alzheimer's and he's currently 86 years old (today is October 5 2018). This combination has improved a lot more than what doctors prescribed to stabilize his memory. Doctors' prescription medicine gave a lot of side effects including the walking. His walking declined and started to move much slower due to the doctors' medication. My father is now doing much better after we stopped the medication and replaced it with Acetyl-L-Carnitine and GABA. 5Arrived in bad shapeSee photo. About half the pill cases were either cracked or broken. 1Brain FoodI did not receive a discount for purchasing this product. I would be the first to admit that my reaction to this product could be completely attributed to a placebo effect, though I'm not abnormally susceptible to it. I started taking this supplement to help my aging memory, and after 5 days I've seen a remarkable improvement. In addition, I have a more positive outlook, and I'm more eager to get into my morning workout. I've also seen an improvement in oxygen utilization, but that could be attributed to cooler morning temperatures. Bottom line is that I like this supplement a lot and will continue to take it.My wife (early 70s) is also taking it. These are her comments: I have hypothyroid and mild cardiomyopathy. I've been taking this for about a week now and find it truly remarkable. I usually nap in the afternoon. Since starting this I've not napped and I accomplish so much more. For instance yesterday I walked two miles, cleaned my 1500 sq ft house and then went to church to stain boards for our new facility. I must say that I was tired but I slept very well. I've not experienced any tiredness as others with hypo thyroid have reported. Great Stuff. I'll continue taking it. I see more muscle toning. 5Broken and Damaged CapsulesAfter purchasing multiple products from Bulk Supplements and never having a problem, I decided to purchase the Acetyl-L-Carnitine capsules instead of the powder. Well it looks like quality control didn't check this batch because multiple capsules were broken or split in half inside the package. (see attached picture) This in turn defeats the purpose of buying capsules as every single other capsule inside my package now tastes like I'm licking Acetyl-L-Carnitine. Thanks bulk supplements, gonna have to reconsider purchasing supplements from you in the future. 1Worth tryingHave reached a weight loss plateau with my workouts and began researching clean supplemenatation to enhance fat burn. I'm trying the acetyl l-carnitine in powder form because I am also taking 3 CLA capsules a day and I begin to feel as though I'm "popping" too many pills. A heaping 1/8 of a tsp in a shot glass filled half way with water, stir and goes down quick and easy. As for taste I used to do shots of apple cider vinegar so this is nothing compared to that. Reminds me a bit of an Alka-Seltzer drink. I have only been using this for a short time so I cannot comment on weight loss yet but it is supposed to give you a natural energy which I could use as I do not drink coffee. I will occasionally take a caffeine pill when needed but would like to replace it with this as a natural energy source. I have read that this is best taken between meals on an emptier stomach, not with a meal. I am taking it twice a day. I would say I'm noticing slight energy, but no jitters or hyped feeling, I just simply don't feel as tired. I do also feel that it is a bit of an appetite suppressant for me as I take it between meals when I might start to feel like snacking. Will continue using as I believe all supplemenatation needs a to be used consistently for 6-8 weeks before you may see results. Another perk I'm hoping to get from this is the mental clarity thing, read about it, they think that this may prevent onset of dementia later in life, maybe, maybe not but why wouldn't you try it even if you thought it "may" prevent such a terrible disease. But, I do appreciate the boost in energy it gives me. However, it is very small. But, on days where you are dragging, it does help. You can't argue with the facts when it comes to weight loss, even if I can't really tell.BulkSupplement's version is great for people who want to blend it in their protein shake like me. Their no-frills packaging is fantastic and the price is unbeatable. Don't let the name brand versions fool you, this is the same exact stuff at a lower price. 5
