Very happy with both purchasesGot the Presto ceramic 1.5" thick flip waffle maker and the Carbon's Golden malted P/W mix. Very happy with both purchases!!Made the first batch this morning. Used 1 cup of the Waffle powder with ingredients. Had to put about 3/4 cup of batter in the Waffle maker to completely cover the bottom. Set timer on 4 min. Came out perfect, no stick the waffle fell out of the maker leaving just a few crums that fell out by tilting the maker over. Very good!! Think this is the mix that the hotels use s it tasted the same. Will try adding a little cinnamon powder and vanilla extract next time to experiment. The taste of the waffles still remains in my mouth hours after eating them, yum.The waffle maker locks in the upright position so the storage footprint is only 3"x10". Much smaller than the double waffle makers that I had been looking at.5Delicious!Our favorite waffle/pancake mix ever. We always loved the waffles they serve at Hampton Inns, so on one of our stays, we inquired about their recipe. They brought us to the back and showed us their secret. It was Carbon's Malted Waffle & Pancake Mix. As soon as we got home from our trip, we bought a waffle maker and ordered a case (6) of this mix. We have never been disappointed. Our grandchildren always request our waffles when they sleep over and our other guests are always asking for the recipe.5Great flavorI looked for this of course because they are so good at Holiday Inn Express! At the hotels, all the waffle needs is butter, no syrup or cream cheese. So good.So, when I made pancakes with this mix, I think I cooked them too slow because they were a tiny bit chewy and flat. Still, they had really yummy flavor. I think I just need to adjust the cooking speed. I can't wait to make waffles!Comparing to Krusteaz buttermilk mix, this stuff is way tastier! Krusteaz to me tastes bitter and floury. Of course, with Krusteaz you don't add anything but water or milk. And with Golden Malted, you add an egg, melted butter and milk or water. So for convenience, Krusteaz is probably sufficient. But who doesn't have eggs, butter and milk in their fridge on a regular basis? It's not that hard to add.I will most likely keep buying this.5A bit spendy, but worth it for the taste and texture. *UPDATE* Still recommendedUPDATE: After using Golden Malted a while I've realized some things. First, the way the waffle recipe is written, the waffles will turn out very thin. I went to a hotel after buying this mix and noticed that the mix used in hotels is at least TWICE AS THICK. So either a. add equal amounts of more batter or b. add another portion of Golden Malted. I've learned a while back that I'm pre-diabetic and I need to watch my sugar. I probably won't be using this a lot longer because it is PACKED WITH SUGAR AND SUGAR BY PRODUCTS. This is no slam to the product. Golden Malted developed a taste and brand that many people love especially when travelling. But this is not something you should eat every day. I think I'll be able to eat this once in a while if I cut it with whole wheat and use fat free milk. In other words, double the flour content so your pancakes and waffles will be twice as thick. As humans we're not designed to eat like this every day, but I still recommend Golden Malted as a treat.I'm one of those nerds who enjoys making my own waffles while staying in hotels. So much so that I bought a Waring waffle maker. Well, we tried various brands of batter but at my last trip I made a point to look for a brand name on the waffle makers in my hotel. I found "Golden Malted" and ordered a can when I got home. Voila! There was that signature flavor I've been looking for.Wife doesn't like waffles, so as a compromise, I switched to pancakes. They are just as delicious. Make sure you follow the directions exactly or they won't turn out. Use medium-high heat and test with just a teaspoon of batter before cooking. If the small test bubbles up quickly and is brown, you're ready to go. Don't turn over the pancake until it's totally bubbled up. You will have beautiful, tan, tasty pancakes. One last thing, don't add the melted butter until your batter is completely whipped. I made the mistake of adding it while stirring in the milk and the butter froze up.Highly recommended. Now even I make delicious pancakes! :-)5Perfect for our Mickey Waffles!Tastes like we are back at Disney <3 We love this brand, just wish is wasn't so expensive.5now I can have hotel waffles at home without the hotel billnow I can have hotel waffles at home without the hotel bill. YUMI made them the first morning without the butter (by accident) and they were fine but not as tender as with the butter. If you are watching calories, try skipping the butter but lightly oil the grids for a better release. I usually make waffles from scratch but these are better because I can use just one cup of mix and 1 egg and get 2 full Belgian waffles with no mess.5Delicious but WAY too expensiveDon t get me wrong. The waffles are delicious. But $20 for 5 cups of waffle flour? That makes 5 waffles? Terrible value. I would consider buying this again if it was $8.Another tip - my waffle iron could not detect when these were done. It s a nice cuisinart and works great with literally any other waffle I make. You really have to time and watch them cook or they will burn.1It's just delicious and not TOO sweet.My buddy went to a waffle house once and asked them what mix they used and they told them it was Carbon's Malted so he bought a huge palet of it. Now anyone can buy it on Amazon and it's EXCELLENT although it makes less waffles than you'd think for the amount of mix but that might be because my Presto Waffle maker is HUGE. I get 2 somewhat full sized waffles and they claim you should get 3 waffles from 1 cup of waffle mix. No way..... I mix all of the ingredients in a ninja and it mixes it flawlessly. You must mix in quick bursts or it can heat up and turn into a useless paste.5stupid bags, bring back the cans. the mix tastes fine,Let me be clear, I LIKE it because the mix. I HATE the new packaging, bring back the CANS! For those complaining about taste, mix the egg in and use milk or whipping cream rather then the water called for that THAT actually gives you a good tasting waffle. As for measuring...measuring is for sissies...I pour out in a bowl, crack in the egg, pour in the milk or whipping cream(which ever I have) till I get a consistency I like. There is a distinct possibility that my "eyeballing" things is experience telling me how much of something I have...been doing this cooking thing for roughly 30 yrs so. But, the complaint is the bags do NOT keep things fresh very well(and easy to puncture if using in camping situations) the cans at least didn't get puncture holes in them, the mix stayed fresh longer, and oh...I didn't have a freaking pancake and waffle mix powder explosion in my camper when the bag got smacked by something sliding in the same cabinet. wishing I'd saved the last actual can from a few years ago. An extremely hot griddle, pan, or waffle iron is important to get a crisp outside and soft inside. Try it, its actually really good, but you might need to tweak things a bit.4Want restaurant waffles - easily?I used this in my professional Waring waffle maker. It uses approximately 1 1/8 cups of batter to fill it!! I used setting #6, which is the highest and the waffles were perfectly browned, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I made 2 changes to the recipe: I stirred in the egg yolk but whipped the egg white and folded it in last and added a dash of vanilla.My other tips: I don't use butter at all because it ruins the texture of the waffle and for taste it's not necessary. I sprinkle the whole thing with powdered sugar first, then drizzle the syrup. It "waterproofs" the waffle a bit :)DON'T heat up the syrup if it's room temperature. It just makes your fluffy, crispy waffle soggy. If it's maple syrup, just gently heat to room temperature in the microwave.5
