My favorite decaf K-Cup - Akin to Kenyan CoffeeOf all the K-Cups I've sampled (Donut House Collection Donut House Decaf, K-Cup Portion Pack for Keurig K-Cup Brewers, 24-Count,Emeril's Jazzed Up Decaf Coffee, K-Cup Portion Pack for Keurig Brewers 24-Count,Green Mountain Coffee Decaf Breakfast Blend, K-Cup Portion Pack for Keurig K-Cup Brewers, 24-Count just to name a few), Caribou Coffee's Decaf is by far my favorite.Bright, bold but not bitter flavor and light texture are hallmark characteristics of Caribou Coffee and this decaf K-Cup doesn't disappoint. I'll be so bold as to say that it's as good as "being there" in a Caribou Coffee shop. If you're a fan of a more Starbucks-y dark roast, this may not appeal to you. While the Caribou Coffee's K-Cup flavor is not nearly as wimpy as Green Mountain or Donut House, it lacks that nearly burnt flavor that often pervades Starbucks' darker roasts. If I had to guess, I would say that the primary bean in this blend is Kenya. If you like Kenyan coffee, this is going to be a winner for you. 5A Great Decaf BlendAs a decaf coffee drinker, almost exclusively, I have sampled a number of different K-cup decafs. There is a surprising range in quality of these coffees. The Caribou version is extremely good to me and deserves five stars. It yields a fairly strong coffee even when made in the largest size. Decafs seems to be more expensive than regular coffees in general and this is true for the Caribou brand. However, it sure isn't the most expensive and is consistently of good quality. Getting the 24 count package provides a nice supply. I do usually have maybe 3 or 4 brands available, but go to the Caribou most frequently. 5Great Flavor, Natural DecafWhile I was pregnant, decaf coffee was a must. At first, it was a struggle, having been an avid coffee drinker for quite some time. But after nine months of no caffeine, I found I preferred it - sure, I didn't get that morning pick-me-up, but I also didn't get that stinging headache if I missed a cup in the morning.On top of being picky, I also suffer from migraines. And any decaf that was made using methylene chloride (or the "direct" process), would trigger a migraine. After months of reading labels and looking for the right flavor, I saw Caribou came out with a k-cup in decaf. Caribou makes all their decafs using the Swiss water process (all-natural), and I've never had issues with migraines. Having had their bagged decaf coffee in the past and finding it comparable to regular, I decided to give it a shot.I was happy to find that Caribou did not disappoint. The decaf k-cup gives the same smooth, strong flavor of their regular "caribou blend" k-kups. For those reviewers that found the flavor lacking, they were most likely used to a darker roast (such as the one, who mentioned using a french roast coffee previously). If you like a lighter, but full-bodied coffee, this is for you. 4... only decaf beverages and thought this would be a great way to enjoy coffee with various creamersI need to drink only decaf beverages and thought this would be a great way to enjoy coffee with various creamers. Sadly, for me it just isn't good. I can't say it's totally bad but to me has a bitter taste no matter what I add to it. 3Tastes better than most of the regular k-cup coffeesThis is the best k-cup decaf you can buy and I've tried almost all of them. It's just slightly to the darker side of medium roast. There's enough coffee to brew a large cup, and it tastes and smells wonderful. It's smooth, and rich not bitter with a bit of a buttery finish, it's roasted enough to have a slight toasted flavor but still retains the brightness of a full-city roast. 5Excellent decaf!This turns out to be a very good decaf. I was hesitant to order after reading reviews about the time it takes to brew and some overflowing issues people have had. Haven't had any of that happen which I'm happy about. The coffee has a nice full flavor and I agree with other reviewers in that it is closer to a dark roast on that score. Also it has a good flavor and your palate experiences many nuances that I enjoy thoroughly. I tried the smaller 24 count box, but just ordered a 48 because this one is a keeper. If you like a strong cup, go with Peets House Blend decaf or Primo Barista Italian. Both of which are superb! This one is for those days you don't need a bang to wake you up. Also, several years ago we had other Kcups exploding in our machine so I called the company. A young fella there told me to use the end of a paper clip and check around the top needle. There are 2 holes, one of each side, that can get clogged and cause that to happen. I did that and ran it once on small. It cleaned out the grounds that were clogging it and presto, it was fine after that. When I clean my machine in the mornings, at least a couple times a week now, I use my paper clip to prevent any build up. It works great and we haven't had problems since. Good luck! 5What happened?This is my 5th purchase of Caribou Decaf. I usually love it but for some reason this batch is nasty & bitter. I have to put a ton of flavored creamer & sweetener to make it drinkable. Not sure what happened this time around because we usually love this type of decaf K cup coffee. 1Can ruin your coffee maker.Unlike the previous purchase of exactly the same item this time the shipment came from overseas and after a long wait the package arrived from some country far far away. This particular batch was defective and the would clog up my coffee maker every time i would use this particular K-cup. I opened up the K-cup and found that the filter holding the coffee powder was different from the ones that I had from the previously purchased would not let the water run and thus creating back pressure and causing the hot water to leak all over the place. I had to throw away the entire box. My mistake was to click on the link "Buy it again" and thinking that I would get the coffee from the same merchant as my previous purchase. My problem is only with this particular purchase - my overall dealing with Amazon is nothing short of perfect. 1Great flavorI really like the flavor of Caribou decaf. I started drinking it when I was pregnant because I liked that they use an all natural water decaffeination process. (http://www.cariboucoffee.com.tr/all-natural-decaf) I have found these k-cups taste stronger than when I've used the Caribou decaf loose ground coffee in my own reusable cup. This decaf is very rich a flavorful; I don't feel like I'm missing out like I do with some other decaf blends. 5YUMMy mom only drinks Decaf but cannot find decaf 'Bou in California - her favorite - (in K-Cups) so she requested these as a Christmas gift. She's enjoying a cup a day and I'm happy I found them on Amazon as that makes them easy to send to her. 5
