... looking for something different or want to expand your enjoyment and knowledge of coffee types you should try Chestbrew ...If you are looking for something different or want to expand your enjoyment and knowledge of coffee types you should try Chestbrew dark roast Vietnamese coffee. It's not as dark as a French Roast or as heavy as a Colombian roast. It's flavor will slightly nudge your pallet into a new but almost familiar area (don't worry, it's nothing radical). The beans are evenly roasted with the proper amount of natural oil.The bag is very easily resealed with a robust zip lock and no scissors needed to open it. I buy this brand every month.5Great dark roast for French press! No one seemed to even review tasting notes, so I will: slight cocoa, slight smoke, nice and earthy notes. Great way to start the morning if you like your coffee black. (I am not a connoisseur.)I make my coffee in a French press and add a touch of brown sugar, and that's it. Didn't care that it was Vietnamese coffee meant to be mixed with milk and sugar... and I'm glad that this works black. It is also pretty strong. I don't have to grind as many beans to get a lot of flavor, which is great.Highly recommended!5Nice tasting coffee!I'm all about trying different types of coffee. I like trying different brewing methods and came across Vietnamese coffee while looking at different methods. This coffee is very versatile. You can make the more traditional Vietnamese coffee or use it for normal brewing methods. It also works great for Aeropress or cold brew. Even though it's a dark roast, it doesn't have a burnt taste. It's definitely smooth tasting. The beans arrived fresh and smelled good when ground up. I love the hint of chocolate that this coffee has too! Highly recommended if you like to try different coffees out!5It was OkayI absolutely love dark roast coffee. I find it difficult to find dark roast coffee readily available in my area so I decided to give this coffee a try based on the description and reviews.First off, I mostly drink my coffee hot. I like to brew my coffee in a French press. To me, this is one of the best ways to really taste the flavors in a coffee. I added about a half a scoop more coffee than it recommends for a French press because I like my coffee strong. However, I was not impressed with the end result. I will say this coffee is very smooth tasting, but there just isn't a whole lot of flavor there. To me, it was just a smooth, bland coffee. If that's your thing, then this coffee is for you. However, I like mine flavorful and robust and I just didn't see that out of this coffee.I will finish the remainder of this coffee but I don't see myself buying it again.3Not what I was expecting.I was attracted to this item because I really enjoy Vietnamese coffee. It's been a regular favorite of mine for 30+ years. My guess is this was probably good once. The beans are roasted nicely to around a City+ roast and packaged well too, weighing in at 20oz, which seems like a good value for the money. What I'm not a fan of though is that the beans are stale. I tried a few different grinds but each time the flavor was lacking what it should be for Vietnamese-grown arabica. The brewing characteristics show signs of the beans being stale.I'm super bummed because I was looking for a decent daily drinker.2The Smoothest coffee I've ever hadA friend recommended I try Vietnamese coffee, and me being who I am, said "What the heck, I love Vietnamese food, I'll absolutely try some coffee." Came on Amazon, searched Vietnamese coffee, and basically ordered the first dark roast whole bean that seemed a good value. I got this in a day or two later, cleaned my coffee maker with distilled white vinegar as normal, so as to have a fresh start on the flavor, brewed up my first carafe the way I normally make coffee (Mr Coffee 4 cup drip coffee maker - I know, sacrilege). I normally drink it black. This stuff blew me mind. It's so smooth and has absolutely no acidity like almost every other type of coffee I've tried has. Just the nice roasted bean flavor. Highly recommended!!!5Very smooth coffee and nice to see the story of the co-founders :)I had just bought a couple more well-known coffees on amazon and was looking for another Dark Coffee with good reviews. I came upon this one, which I will admit I was more intrigued by the adorable couple who are co-founders and their story and about Vietnamese coffee.I got it within 2 days and always have items shipped to my work so everyone was wondering what I got this time. I passed around the bag at work and my boss wanted to try some (i had to wait to grind it at home later that evening).I got home and ground up a batch for myself to use the next morning as well as some for my boss. I was trying to impress him so I ground up the coffee really fine and saved some for myself. Next morning I used my usual scoops but found I used way to much and was a little bitter. I told my boss what happened as I gave it to him but he told me if you do the ground real fine you would need less. I did not know that so the next day I tried again and this time it was PERFECT! My boss came in the next day and told me he really liked the coffee as well. My boyfriend also tried it and agreed and he's not much of a coffee drinker.5Warning .... Get ready to fall in love with this coffee ....I really don't do a lot of reviews but I've got to do this one. About 4 months ago I bought a Breville Oracle machine. ($$$) Right away I had buyers remorse .... even after I had negotiated a big discount with Bed, Bath and Beyond. I used to do Keurig in the am. Now with the new machine it meant going to whole beans as it has an on board grinder. So I have tried many brands, Illy, etc and I really wanted Viet Coffee. I had traveled to Vietnam several years ago and their coffee is the bomb. So I have bought several whole bean coffees on Amazon that are from Vietnam in hopes of finding the one that I found in that country. It had to be sweet, dark and rich. When you drank it either as a shot of espresso or mixed in with flavors and steamed milk it left you craving another. So I have found it with this coffee .... it KICKS ASS. Seriously, on it's label it describes itself as taking coffee drinking to another level and I can honestly tell you that if you like legit Viet coffee buy a bag of this and get ready to get on your knees and pray to your espresso machine. Don't pay attention to people looking at you ... feel sorry for them that they aren't drinking this coffee.5Very Strong, very dark, lovely interesting flavor.Lately,I have been experimenting with various types of Coffee.I mostly prefer strong, dark coffees such as Peet's Major Dickason's blend, and Death Wish coffee. This was my first Vietnamese coffee, and I really enjoy it. It is very strong and has a rich flavor which has a bit of a bite to it. You should see how dark and oily the Beans look! It comes in a large bag with a cool ziplock slit in the front top area. To seal it, you press the ziplock closed, and gently squeeze out the excess air through the valve. I'm pretty sure this lovely Coffee is destined to go into rotation as one of my three favorites. Recommended to strong coffee lovers.4Viet CoffeeI am a coffee freak. Traveled to the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. For coffee. Just got back from Portland, Oregon. To drink coffee (and Craft Beer, eat from Food Trucks, and buy books at Powell s). So, I have some coffee cred. These beans are similar to Sumatran. Very smooth, liquid velvet. Brewed very, very well in the French Press Stainless. Need to try the Kalita. Travel the world in a cup. Sounds like a solid company with a sustainable vision.5
