Very disappointed. Ordered Hazelnut coffee from Coffee Bean Direct and the beans are not hazelnut flavored or light roast as advertised and the taste of the coffee was very harsh. I have been drinking Hazelnut coffee for a long time and would not purchase from Coffee Bean Direct again. Very disappointed. 1so good as COLD BREW!This stuff is SO GOOD and definitely the most affordable Jamaican Me Crazy out there.It is delicious hot, but we love this for our COLD BREW coffee! Making it is so easy. Use a very large container and mix ground coffee to with cold water. Our favorite ratio is 4:1 water to coffee (4 cups of water for each cup of coffee) but you can adjust to your liking. Then we let is sit at room temperature for 24-48 hours, stirring occasionally (again, play with the timing to get the strength to your liking). Finally, we use a large french press to strain and pour into a glass container to be stored in the fridge. SO GOOD especially with a splash of SO unsweetened coconut creamer.We use a lot of this at once to make large batches of cold brew, so freshness typically isn't an issue for us. Though in the past when we were making smaller batches we did notice that flavor changed after a month or so. It became a little stale and a little less coconut-y. Keeping it sealed very tightly usually helps though,5Really good coffee!The thing I like best is opening the bag and having the aroma fill the room. Heavenly! I really love this coffee! I usually add a little creamer and then just enjoy. It s smooth, no bitter taste and the aroma :-) ! It s my favorite start to the day. I have a subscription and I ve been ordering it to give as gifts for family and good friends this year. I highly recommend you try it. There s nothing better than a great cup of coffee. 5Smells heavenly, tastes greatThe first time we ordered this, we were nervous because it was 5 pounds of beans, and were anxious whether the orange peel would get stuck in our grinder (we have a Capresso grind & brew, which we adore). The first pot was a bit flowery [orange blossom] tasting, different than expected, but about half were beans from our previous bag (hazelnut?). From the second pot on, we were sold, and love it now. And when we come downstairs in the morning, the kitchen smells a heavenly orange. And we love the taste of the coffee. NOTE: we love flavored coffee. We just ordered our second 5-lb bag.5Good Value For Your Money, Good CoffeeI'm not what you would call a fan of strong coffees, and I have a difficult time finding flavors that I like to drink on a daily basis. However, when I had tried Highlander Grogg I was instantly taken by the flavor. I was pleased to find such a large quantity of coffee beans on Amazon for almost half the price of Highlander Grogg in the stores.The flavor isn't overpowering and it is not a really strong strong coffee. It's right up my alley, and I enjoy drinking it every day. The bag does come vacuumed sealed for freshness. Due to the large quantity, and my husband not drinking it, I store the beans in the freezer in two separate freezer bags that I have removed the air from as much as possible. I also put them in another bag so they aren't exposed to light every time you open the freezer door. May sound silly but supposedly this keeps the beans fresh for a longer period of time. I haven't had any issues with the beans losing their quality of freshness at this point.Overall I think taste is a personal preference, but for the volume of beans you get at the price, and the quality of these beans you, really can't beat the value for your money.5First-class coffeeFor years, I used to buy First Colony's Seville Orange coffee. Then First Colony went out of business. All their brands and such were bought up by another roaster out of New York ... which killed the Seville Orange line.Coffee Bean Direct has stepped up to the plate with their own Seville Orange coffee, and they've gone one better. This coffee is not just flavored with oranges, it is heavily spiked with dried orange peel. Believe me, you will really get the orange flavor notes and aroma off this coffee. Unlike seemingly a majority of coffees on the market, it is not over-roasted; it is a deep medium roast, flavorful yet still mellow, without a hint of burnt taste and very little bitterness. It compares favorably for value to almost anything worth drinking that you'll find at a supermarket or most local roasters. It's more expensive than you'll probably pay for a bag of coffee from your big-box warehouse-club store, but it tastes enough better that it's more than worth it.Technical Thug says if you care about your coffee, then yes, you want this coffee.5Not exactly Highlander Groggs, but perfect in it's own way.As some have said, it does have a coconut-like aroma. I think this is mostly before you grind the coffee though. After the coffee is ground, I don't smell coconut so much anymore. The coffee doesn't taste or smell at all like coconut after it's brewed either. It is also doesn't taste like other Highlander Groggs I have had either. It is a really, really good coffee though. I will definitely continue to order it. With my bonavita coffee maker, this coffee tastes better than any coffee I have had in recent memory. I would rather drink this coffee than any $4+ cup of coffee that Starbucks sells. It is really that good.Get a bonavita or similar quality coffee maker though to really taste this coffee fairly though. You won't regret it.5Highlander Grogg not Coffee Bean Direct's BestI tried unsuccessfully to make this coffee bean work. Understanding that you have to process certain beans differently, this Highlander Grogg tasted like water no matter what I did. I have a conical burr grinder and per the instructions I processed the beans on the coarse setting because it is an oily bean - and even tried it on several less coarse settings but it still tasted horrible...like it was missing the flavor altogether. Also when making the coffee in my Bunn Velocity Brewer, I tried measuring more AND less grounds and still it didn't pass the taste test. Everything we tried tasted like water.I have tried Door County Coffee's version of Highlander Grogg and it was AWESOME and we had no problem producing a great cup of jo! And on that note, I should say what Coffee Bean Direct does better is the Dark Ethopian Yirgacheffe. I beg you to buy it - you will not be disappointed. It's sensational!1Bad smell and HORRIBLE aftertasteI got this because I love hazelnut coffee, I was hoping it would still taste good at the low price point but that was not the case at all. I brewed a pot of hot coffee freshly ground before work, the coffee had a very bitter taste with a sour chemical like flavor as an after taste. I got home cleaned the machine completely and brewed another batch with the same result. Tried to cold brew and it was even worse. Bottom line, this coffee ruined a few 12 hour shifts and this enough for me, wish I could return it but no luck.1EXCELLENTSeller assured me it was light blend beans, but they are rather oily which means that not being completely dry they're more like medium but not quite dark. Taste of beans was SUPER GOOD in my opinion. My family thought I was cooking pancakes when I brewed it the first morning. It's delicious :P5I really like the flavor I bought this several months ago and I brew a couple of mugs of this coffee every morning. I really like the flavor. I usually brew it with a little cinnamon. I keep the bag in the refrigerator and the potent raspberry aroma and flavor are as nice as they were when I first opened it. 5Right amount of orange, REAL orange.I've been looking for good Orange Seville for some time. The taste is smooth, you can see orange peel in the bag. I'm so glad I found this. I shared some with friends and now they order it too.To elaborate on what makes this better than other orange coffees...They start with a well rounded coffee.They use real orange oil/zest to flavor the coffee, rather than an orange flavoring that doesn't taste smooth AND upsets the stomach.It's enough orange without being overpowering.But that's just my palate. Try it for yourself :)5
