"Reproductive Harm" warning, lower quality substitute from what is advertisedThe oyster packs I received are different from what is advertised. It has "reproductive harm" warning, lower quality olive oil, lower quality smoke process. I am getting my supply of oysters from Trader Joe's now.1I had no choice but to leave a review.I waiting all day for this package to arrive. The Bumblebee smoked oysters that I've been buying at Giant's vs Wal-Mart and other groceries stores have been inconsistent. The oysters' sizes were ranging anywhere from 9 to 35 in a can. Which is incredibly odd. The fact that Crown Prince brand is in olive oil is a plus. I just wish it was 3.75oz instead of 3.0oz, but the quality is a lot better than Bumblebee so I'm not complaining. The olive oil made a huge difference. Let alone, these are from South Korea. Every other smoked oysters I've been buying are from China. Which is a no-no especially if I'm eating this daily. I'm just disappointed that 8 didn't subscribed to this sooner. I'll be reordering these every 2 weeks or even weekly. I don't think 18 cans will last me more than 7 days.5Oil that comes from olives, not cotton.Would you eat a T-Shirt? Of course not. Then why buy oysters packed in cottonseed oil, which most of them are? Cotton isn't food, so why should the oil that vast amount of technology and industry manages to squeeze out of cotton seeds be food for you or me? Makes no sense. These oysters are packed in olive oil. They aren't the cheapest, but they're still quite cost effective, and everything in the can comes from something that is actually food.5Delicious and worth it with a few hesitationsThese oysters are absolutely delicious. Absolutely. Best oysters I've ever eaten, by far. Once you've tried them, you'll never go back. And you should try them. They are a real treat. My family gets them for special occasions a few times a year. That said, I have some caveats:1. They seem awfully expensive. Way too expensive. I don't know how much they cost to produce and ship. It does seem to me as though the company might be able to sell a lot more if they charged less. We would certainly buy a lot more if they cost a lot less.2. There are not nearly enough in one can to be satisfying so we always have two each, and we are not big eaters. Eating two cans each means they really are even more expensive than they initially appear.3. I think this next thing is because these oysters are an ocean food that is relatively fresh, and it's worth it for the flavor, but be forewarned: In my opinion, these oyster cans *really* need to be disposed of carefully or they stink. When I open them, I do so in the sink, I wash the empty tins, I wash everything up well before disposing of the tins, and the oil the oysters were sitting in gets poured down the toilet. This routine is because I discoved that if I just rinse the cans well and throw them away, they become truly rancid, stinking up the yard and/or house and the space 15-20 feet around them.5A luxurious way to treat oneselfThese are heavenly and easily addictive. Besides being a good source of Omega-3 and protein, they make a wonderful snack or even a lunch and if they gross out your friends who are horrified by oysters, then there are more for you. Do not share. They are too good to waste on friends or guests. Keep them for yourself.5Lead and CadmiumThis label should be displayed in the product images. The "reproductive harm" is for lead and cadmium according to Crown Prince's website. Prop 65 requires the levels to be below 0.5 mcg while one can of this smoked oyster has 12 mcg. Does anyone know if this is because the oysters are grown in South Korea, presumably has more polluted waters than those of the US? If so, please source domestically. On a different note, the oysters taste very good. But no one wants extra servings of lead and cadmium, to put it mildly.1Contains 25 times more lead than the warnings require.I was horrified to see a tiny proposition 65 warning on the box. When I looked it up on their web page it said it was warning against mercury.....which i know is in all sea food but in oysters in not very high, so I was going to basically blow it off, but wrote to them anyway to ask specifically about it, and was told by them that they contain lead! Ugggg. Who wants to eat oysters full of lead? They actually sent me a graph explaining that there is 24 times more lead in their oysters than the warning on their package requires. Further explanation from them revealed that the lead comes from growing them in heavily polluted waters. Don t buy these unless you don t mind loosing your IQ! I would not even feed the rest to my dogs.1Absolute CrapI'm so disappointed in myself for ordering 18 tins of this. The very first tin 2 oysters were full of sand. I've never encountered this in buying canned oysters before, and there's no way I'm going to chance eating any more of these. Apart from that, they were pale and pasty, very little smoke flavor. So what I now have is 17 tins of very expensive dog food.1Delicious and not from ChinaStill great tasting and still produced in South Korea. My previous go-to canned aquatic bivalve snack was the Crown Prince Baby Clams, but the quality dropped significantly once they transitioned from Product of Thailand to Product of China. Not so with these; they're still the same delicious smoked oysters.Do yourself a favor and avoid an assortment of poisons and additives by staying away from edible products from China.5The BEST SMOKED OYSTERS you can buy, and on AMAZON no less!!!!.I usually get these at Whole Foods. I can't find the ones with the chili pepper anywhere but there. They are very pricey but on Amazon they really are a steal. Once I discovered these I can't stop eating them. They are the perfect snack out of the can. I can't believe I actually found these on Amazon and now Im only going to order these from Amazon. As far as why I found and ordered them on Amazon: Well, I went to Whole Foods to get them and they were out of them. 3 Whole Foods were out of them. I placed an order for a case and they have been on backorder for 3 weeks. I jump on here and to my disbelief here they were. I ordered a case and they arrived in 3 days. AWESOME. As for the brand. Crown Prince is clearly the best smoked oysters you can buy period. These are addictive. Some cans the oysters are big, others big and medium, which is all good because you know your getting the real deal, not just a bunch of tiny unappealing ones like the big name brands which claim to be the best but are just awful. I used to get these without the chili pepper which were far cheaper. Then I would put hot sauce on them. That was great accept when I found these I didn't want to ever get the plain ones again. I just love these things.5
