TOO EXPENSIVEAfter Teavana closed down, I have been on the lookout for a suitable replacement for their matcha. I have tried many brands both on Amazon, and at local tea shops and have not found anything that matched Teavana's flavor, color, and quality.This product does come close, but is way too expensive. Costing over $70, this is not affordable for most people. The Teavana tin of the same size, despite being better in every aspect, cost half the amount.3Pleasant surpriseI bought this tea just wanting to see if I could taste a difference between a ceremonial grade green tea powder and an universal or cooking grade green tea. I honestly thought that it would all be the same, but I must say that I now have become a ceremonial green tea powder snub....if what I want is to drink a cup of green tea latte or plain green tea. I can taste the smoothness and sweetness in the ceremonial grade green tea. Not that I won't ever drink universal grade...but it is slightly more bitter than the ceremonial grade and I would use universal grade in a pinch if I ever run out of the ceremonial grade. A 1 oz tin of DoMatcha will make a LOT of green tea drinks because you need such a small amount of tea to make a cup...that the cost is worth it.DoMatcha is a great buy and you won't regret your purchase.5Do Matcha Go Match Matcha Matcha..YUM!!!I love Matcha!! I got this in the mail and I noticed how small it was but I didn't realize that you need the smallest amount to make a large drink. The taste isn't that good to me when its hot but I love it cold!! I put a small amount in a protein shaker cup with ice and water and shake it until its frothy and all green and mixed up. When I drink it I get energy but not the shaky energy from coffee and I feel relaxed as well. The feeling I get from it lasts all day and I usually only have two cups max! I started drinking this to get healthy and cut out the coffee and I feel 10000% better. By the way, I got this over a year ago and I just finished it. A little itty bit goes a long way!5Reliable boost of energy and clarityI drink green tea daily but am new to matcha. I admit that I drink it now for health benefits rather than the taste, which I find to be a bit overly bright and grassy. I prefer less grassy green teas like dragonwell, jasmine oolong, and roasted rice. But there's no denying the positive changes that come with drinking matcha. It has a positive, energizing effect (after a few days if you drink a cup a day), not quite like drinking caffeine but I definitely feel more awake and alert. I find a cup of match in the early afternoon is a great deterrent against the dreaded late afternoon energy slump. Sometimes I add matcha to my morning smoothie which gives me a helpful burst of energy throughout the day. I have used this matcha in baking but find that it is a little too gritty in texture. Overall, this is a great, versatile matcha that provides a gentle, reliable boost of energy and clarity.5Delicious, Foamy, Pricey But Worth ItD Matcha was one of the first companies to market Matcha teas to the west. It's one of the more well known brands of Matcha worldwide. Even though it is expensive I wanted to try it to compare to other Matchas.This is a ceremonial grade Matcha; not cheap. It has wonderful color and flavor. It foams up nicely when you whisk it and it is slightly less bitter than premium grade Matcha. It comes in an resealable can like you see in Japanese homes.If you want to save money, try premium grade Matchas. Premium grade Matcha is a notch below ceremonial grade Matcha but most people can not tell the difference. It is much less expensive. I suggest Tealyra Organic Japanese Matcha Green Tea Powder; $6.25 per ounce or D D Matcha Summer Harvest Matcha ($11.00 per ounce, two premium grade Matchas I also like.Since many of the Matcha tea questions on Amazon pertain to radiation contamination of green teas, I thought I'd mention that D Matcha teas are grown in Kagoshima (700 miles away from the nuclear disaster that occurred in Fukushima) and Uji, Kyoto and (325 miles away from the nuclear disaster that occurred in Fukushima), so radiation is not much of a concern (for me).Tanoshimu! (Japanese for enjoy)5Matcha Perfection!This was the first matcha I ever tried, and from the first sip, I fell in love with it. I have since bought many other reputable ceremonial grade teas to compare it to, but I have never found anything that comes close to the quality of this tea. DoMatcha is a vibrant, bright, almost unbelievable leaf green color. It is the kind of green that is so lively and vibrant that it seems almost to glow. Other brands either have a dingy, dark quality to them with a color that looks like pine needles, or they are too light and washed out, with a limy-celadon tone. I guess it might seem silly to put so much emphasis on color in a review, but the color, in my opinion, is a direct reflection of the flavor of the tea.If you are a lover of matcha or have only just learned of its incredible health benefits, you will find nothing better than DoMatcha Ceremonial Grade tea. This also happens to be the best price I have found for it anywhere.Pro Tip: Use Kal Pure Stevia Extract Powder -- 3.5 oz to sweeten your matcha. It tastes delicious, and it somehow makes the matcha froth double in volume. No other stevia and no other sweetener works as well as Kal brand. Also, matcha is very fragile! Keep it refrigerated, and do not use dairy with it or it will degrade its antioxidant properties. Enjoy!5Very good qualityOf course great matcha powder is expensive, but this product hits a sweet spot by providing the quality it advertises. As others have said, there is four-layer protection here. The can itself has a screw top, then there's a pop-top to open the container, then there's a foil bag, and finally there's a silicate anti-moisture pack in the bag. This is as close to freshly-ground as you can possibly get in a shipped product. The tea was the neon-green color top-quality matcha should be, and I am very happy with the taste of my first cup. People with a serious palate like me might say this isn't the very best taste available in the world, but it is certainly worth of the "ceremonial" banner- I would feel proud to offer this tea to my most esteemed guests.Note to beginners: Matcha should be made at a lower temperate than most black teas. If you pour boiling water over your matcha powder you're basically roasting it on the spot and altering the flavor. Traditionally, you should boil the water as normal and then allow it to cool for a few minutes (to around 80C/180F) before making your tea. To maintain this lower temperature, you may also want to swirl a bit of the hot water in cups before making tea, so the cups don't chill the tea further before drinking.There's certainly a good caffeine high- I can see why others claim this product produces exceptional clarity. Part of it is likely the absolute freshness, as you're getting the product at its peak. Someone coming from bagged or even bulk loose-leaf tea is likely to notice the difference. Highly recommended, and certainly only for ceremonial tea- I would never waste this grade of tea making ice cream or lattes as a lower-cost brand would do that job just as well. For making straight tea, without embellishments, this is a top-quality product.5Simply The Best !!!I have been drinking matcha for many years and I have tried lots of less expensive brands. I went to cooking school in Paris and I think that I have a very discerning palate. I believe domatcha organic ceremonial grade is the best of any matcha I have tasted. I drink my matcha the way the Japanese do with just hot water. When you drink it that way you can really tell the difference between all the different matchas. If you are going to put it in a smoothie or even in a matcha latte then I wouldn't even waste your money you are better off using a lesser quality because you won't be able to tell the difference. In fact I do carry the Domatcha in the green can which is way less expensive because I do enjoy an occasional matcha latte. I hope my review is helpful!!!5what a waste.Way less than culinary grade. No body or taste to this....found a small safety pin in bottom of can bag was shipped in....also upon drinking felt a sharp poke in my cheek which was a stem...about an inch long and sharp. Can't return so just throwing away....what a waste.1Best brand I've had so farThe taste is really smooth and not bitter at all, which is amazing because most brands I've tried are slightly bitter. It has a hint of a fruity taste to it as well, but it's very subtle. It's so cool. And a little goes a long way, so I feel better about buying something so expensive, lol. All around just a really smooth tasting and high quality matcha.I also liked that on the bottom, it has a sticker that tells you when it was harvested as well as the best before date. I feel like most food products don't have that so it was nice to see when it was made/exactly how fresh it is.5
