Good stuff, definitely worth a tryWhen I was in high school some of my teammates would always use this product and have great races. I thought it was dumb because we weren't running particularly long distances and I always thought GU was for marathoners and stuff. Anyway now I'm in the marathon club at my college and decided I'd buy a pack just to see how my stomach likes it before I actually used it during a race. I ate some before a 5k time trial (about 30 minutes before) and I must say I felt AMAZING before and during the run. I had so much energy and everything was clicking. I was skeptical before but this stuff really does work. I wish I could eat it before training every day but it's too expensive. Also the flavor I got (lemon sublime) I thought was actually pretty tasty and completely bearable.I guess the most important thing to get out of this review would be that GU works for ALL distances; you don't have to be a marathoner or extreme endurance sport guy to enjoy this product. I always thought those guys on my track team were idiots and now I feel like an idiot for not eating the GU before races because it definitely helps.It is also important to note that there's no caffeine in this stuff so NCAA athletes you're good to go.Also one more thing, for those of you guys who eat this stuff on distance runs, don't be a doosh and throw your trash on the ground, just fold it up and put it back where you took it out of! 5Great for long endurance races, a bit pricey.This is a necessity if you're running anything longer than six hours. Kept me going during a 24-hour toughest mudder (had one about every 45 minutes to an hour). Wish they weren't so expensive. If you're running something like a marathon or less, you probably won't need these and can go with the standard GU Energy Gels, or something equivalent. 4Great for those grueling ridesI'm not a doctor or nutritionist, but I ride super hard, and Gu helps keep me at the top of my game. A friend who IS those things explained something about amino acids, multiple pathways, blah, blah, blah. I used to reserve this for just the super-hard rides, but now I'll gobble one on intermediate rides where I still want to be in tip-top shape at the end. 5It tastes good, not too thick and I don't get queasy ...Almost an unfair advantage. I run a number of half marathons every year and I have recently started downing one packet of this GU around mile 8. By mile 10 it usually kicks in and really lifts the end of my race. I've also used several of these during a marathon with similar results.It tastes good, not too thick and I don't get queasy as I do with other gel product. 5Go To for Running FuelLove Love Love GU ROCTANE! I use GU ROCTANE before every run (10+m) and use these throughout my long runs. There are a lot of things that you just can't predict on your runs and especially your races. Knowing that I have these in my running belt assures me that my fuel during my run is in control.I find the GU is easy on my stomach and it really provides the electrolytes needed. With each packet containing only 100 calories, I'm surprised by the generosity that each packet gives in energy.I end my workouts and races feeling good and not depleted. 5The best on the go energy for long physical activity.This stuff keeps me going nice and steadily on a long hike. The extra aminos in Roctane over the regular Gu seem to give me more energy. I have tried two flavors so far, Blueberry Pomegranate and Orange Vanilla. Like Blueberry very much. Don't like Orange at all. Don't forget to drink water after eating one. 5Rocket FuelThis is my favorite endurance gel. This is like rocket fuel. I can take one of these at mile 18 of a long run and have such a boost that I can pick up the pace and run continuously for another 45 minutes. I alternate caffeinated/non-caffeinated as my belly gets upset if I only take caffeinated Roctane. This is the all time best gel (to me) for marathons and longer races. 5Absolutely works!I use these on my long runs over 8 miles. I generally take one ever 5 miles or so. I can tell a HUGE difference with vs without GU Roctane. The caffeine gives me a nice happy boost for the tail end of a run and with only 35mg per GU, I don't worry about it giving me the poops. 5Roctane WorksYou ve got plenty of flavors to choose from. I happen to like this Vanila-Orange combination. It s the other ingredients that matter. I don t use GU Roctane on every ride, or for every gel I use during my training rides. I rely on Roctane when I m in a competitive event, or on my most demanding rides or training workouts. Whenever I need to dig down deep, I depend on Roctane. This version has caffeine. My experience is that the caffeine versions rejuvenate my quads and the fatigue fades away for 40 minutes or more. On most training rides I choose non-caffeine versions, and I still get great lift, I highly recommend GU s Gel product line. Just be careful about the caffeine if you can get by without it. 5Get the sea salt chocolate- not coconut!I love the sea salt chocolate- however the chocolate coconut is pretty horrendous. I definitely have to just suck it down and get it over with. Flavor aside, these really do work great! I personally don t feel like a big caffeine boost or busts of energy from them, but they just help you keep going if that makes sense. They definitely help your endurance and getting too through a wall. They were great for me during my training for my half marathon and during the half, I had two of them. 5
