Great Maple Extract.Great Maple Extract. I looked all over town and couldn't find real maple extract. This is fantastic. I needed this for my low carb maple pecan bars because I didn't want to use maple syrup (for the sugar).5Meh extract, worse packagingI've used this extract for about a month now. The "maple extract" labeling is really not correct as this tastes less like maple extract and more like an unflavored pancake syrup (hardly a concentrate). Also, the packaging really needs to be addressed. Even placed finger tight (where even the weakest of hands could unscrew the lid) the product glues itself shut. I've kept this product at room and refrigerator temp with the same result. I've tried everything from heating the lid under scalding water to freezing the product to having a well-muscled man attempt to remove the lid. No success aside from slicing open hands and fingers. Finally, I used a pair of pliers to crush the lid (even pliers didn't remove the lid) and popped one of my wine corks in the top instead. I've never had this much drama from a cooking product! Once this is used up, I'll find another source. WAY too much effort and disappointment for even the low cost. Highly recommend NOT using this, even if you've reached a point of desperation.2Deceptive Labeling. Deceptive marketing.I don't know how you label something "Pure Maple Extract" and have the list of ingredients on the bottle read: alcohol, water, natural caramel color, glycerine, and, finally, maple concentrate. Which is a different ingredient list than shown on the Amazon product page: there, the ingredient list reads: Natural maple extract, alcohol, water, natural caramel color.I am forwarding this review to the FDA, which, I'm hoping, cares about truthful labeling and marketing.1Where's the Flavor?I should have heeded the negative reviews for this natural maple extract since it imparts almost no flavor. Yes, it smells wonderful and rich in the bottle, but once you add it to a recipe, it adds nothing. I wanted natural maple extract to make maple walnut ice cream. Real maple syrup leaves ice cream too icy if that's the only kind of sugar I use, and so I wanted to half the syrup but boost the flavor with this. I hate to say it but McCormick's Imitation Maple Extract has more flavor than this -- that's not a good thing.I'm going to have to keep searching for a real maple extract that actually isn't a waste of my money.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann1Not maple - no flavor to speak ofI am astounded at the good reviews and wonder if they are real. As a long time cook, I am appalled at the lack of flavor this item has. It does not have ANY MAPLE FLAVOR AT ALL.In fact, it has little flavor of any sort. It is a shame that Totonac is no longer available, since it was phenomenal -- rich, true maple flavor. I also tried Spice House and Alan Tetreault, and King Arthur, none of which was very good, but were better than this one.The next best thing is probably Spices, Etc. maple flavoring, if you can tolerate the fact it has propylene glycol.1Weak flavor outweighed by alcohol. While I cannot say it's awful, because it does have a great maple flavor, I certainly cannot give it any thing like a 4 or 5 star. Too much alcohol to flavor ratio, in favor of alcohol. I have to use 2 to 3 tbsp to achieve a good maple flavor in only a small batch of whatever I'm flavoring (including my favorite treat, maple milk sans all the sugar associated with real syrup).I'd personally stick to my 2oz bottle of non alcoholic extract I normally use (that 1-2 tsp is plenty), as I feel I'm getting the same amount of flavor either way. More is not always better.2Fake LabelingThey post that it s pure on the label. But when shipped the label doesn t say anything about it being pure.1This is not what I was expecting for maple. ...This is not what I was expecting for maple. This is an alcohol based extract with very little aroma or flavor. I just used it in place of vanilla when a recipe called for it, because there was nothing noticeable about it as maple. I have used frontier maple I the past and I am going back to it. It added the noticeable maple flavor I was looking for.2At last, I can have pancakes again!I am on a low carb diet and there are plenty of options for low carb pancakes, but every "sugar free" syrup I have found is super scary and loaded with awful ingredients and worse taste. I found fiberyum here on Amazon and I mix this maple extract in and boom... maple syrup. Super healthy maple deliciousness! I can't imagine surviving low carb life without it.5Just like maple minus the sugar!I was really impressed with this product. I bought as part of the ingredients in a recipe for low cal Leto pumpkin pancakes. I must say I am really loving the flavor minus the calories!!!The flavor and smell is just like maple but it is not sweet. The color is like a caramel color. Here s the recipe in case anyone wants to try these #keto #paleo pumpkin pancakes perfect for fall.Keto / Paleo - Pumpkin pancakes2 tablespoons of pumpkin2 eggs1/4 teaspoon cinamon1/4 teaspoon vanilla1/4 natural maple flavor (no sugar)1 teaspoon stevia2 tablespoons coconut flourwhip cream (to top) I used non dairy almond whip creamIf you found my review helpful please give me a helpful like 5
