Front back coverage is good but no top (AC joint) coverage, warms up too fast.I had purchased this product specifically with the purpose of treating a right shoulder AC injury (on top of the shoulder). For reference, I am 6' 1" 200lbs with an athletic build.I had asked about coverage and was assured by other reviewers that it did indeed cover the top of the shoulder. Unfortunately, it does not. While I can get good coverage on the front and back of the shoulder, this product does not cover the surface area of the top of the shoulder (the AC joint area). Because the product folds at the top, this causes the product to "tent" up, providing minimal to no contact for people seeking AC treatment. In addition, the product warms up too fast. After about 20 minutes the temperature is too warm for any effective treatment.Compression is fair on front and back of shoulder, again because it does not touch the top of the shoulder there is no compression for this area. Valve to release air is spotty, sometimes air releases sometimes it does not.Putting the product on is doable by yourself, but having additional help provides a better fit.Ill most likely continue use, but seek another product that provides better coverage. 2ExcellentI had shoulder surgery last year and cool compression therapy was the best part of PT (obviously their equipment is better) . I had the other shoulder repair yesterday and bought this in advance, with a second cold pack. It is a must have for shoulder surgery. The gel packs do not "freeze like a rock". They are stiff but still pliable. fits comfortably. But it hurts, YOU JUST HAD SURGERY, its supposed to hurt!At first, a little difficult to get on without help, because of limited range of motion, but I'm doing it solo now (day 1-2). Cold pack lasts at least 20 minutes. I have noticed that it seems less cold when I'm running around the house doing chores. With this your not sitting there trying not to move, so the bag of ice wont fall off. So I've adopted the new policy of sitting still while using. :)Advice for shoulder surgery patients, listen to your Doc. Do the PT!!! And at home!!!! It hurts, but work through the pain and your recovery will be better and quicker. Ice is the best pain reliever and reduces the swelling, Advice from a 2 timer. 5It works, but not that well, and a poor fit for woman or small framesThis works...sort of. It ices the area and keeps contact with the shoulder itself and the upper arm. It doesn't, however, support well along the top of the shoulder beyond an inch from the joint. Someone else here pointed out that the brace only supports the whole shoulder if your arm isn't kept at a right angle, but rather lifted away from the body somewhat, which is not ideal for many people. Inflating doesn't help this. It is simply a strange design.I am a fairly broad-shouldered 5'6" woman and this brace is too big. It is impossible to adjust it firmly around my shoulder without the brace and the incredibly poorly placed attachment for the inflater bulb jamming me in the neck and jaw (see picture). The strap around my chest digs into the other armpit, and the arm straps are very difficult to adjust without help -- at least if this is worn on the right side (though once you get them where you want them, you can leave them there). I imagine that for many people it is painful to get everything adjusted correctly, especially post surgery. It is perhaps better than the alternatives but is still quite lacking. 3Wish there was better instructionsMy PT recommended this while I go through physical therapy for tendinitis in my shoulder. The instructions are awful. The picture included here and other people's reviews were more helpful getting the brace on although it took some imagination to reverse it for the left shoulder. I also didn't know that the ice bag part came off until I read it in the reviews so I could put just that part in the freezer. I'll admit to being a little dense about how to use the pump and how to deflate the brace. I didn't realize you could remove the pump and only needed to gently twist the tube off the valve on the brace while it's in the on position to deflate. Once I went through all that and figured it out, works great. 4Best for a strong person with muscle trauma, not surgery. Very heavy and no cover for icepack. This is a very strangely made brace/ice pack. I'm 5'4" and 130 lbs. and I could not figure out how to put it on. It's very large with LOTS of velcro. The oddest thing is despite the large size of this behemoth, the ice pack is not covered and unless you put a towel on your shoulder you will get tissue damage and wet from the cold pack (if you've put in the freezer). Also, I could not put it on by myself (I had rotator cuff surgery) which meant when my husband was at work I could not use it. I would recommend it for a athlete with enough muscle to benefit from the weight. I did not use the pump which would have caused pain f rom my incisions. Also, it doesn't come with instructions on how to put this thing on. It has tons of velcro and who knows what goes where! 2Good product, well made and does what it's supposed to do. Easy to get on and offI have a torn rotator cuff... what I like is that it wraps around your shoulder yet I really had to figure out the two straps that hold onto your arm. There were inadequate directions for how to wear this portion of the brace properly. I reversed the ice pack in the brace to get to the top of my shoulder where most of my pain was. With the ice pack, this thing is heavy and it does cover your upper arms and your shoulder blade. I added a small ice pack to the top of the brace so I would get the same effect on the very top of my shoulder where it hurts the most. The pressure gauge helps to a certain extent but not as snug as I would like. It is adequate for it's purpose and hoping it will help after my shoulder surgery. I am also only 5' 2" so perhaps they could make them for smaller people. It is easy to get on and off once you figure it out. 5Perfect brace for my shoulder!Works like a charm, and is far more effective and convenient than wrapping ice packs around your shoulder. I developed shoulder problems playing tennis. Using this after matches for about a week solved that.Other great features:#1 - After a match, with this brace in place, I can go about the rest of my day (driving, running errands, cooking, etc.)--activities that were challenging, if not impossible with regular ice packs sliding around and off my shoulder.#2 - The air pump maximizes contact between the brace and your entire shoulder, speeding up cooling.#3 - No ice melting and leaking all over your clothes.#4 - Super cold and stays that way for hours if you leave it in the freezer overnight. The only negative:Figuring out where the straps went the first time was a little confusing. They could include a better diagram. 5Makes it easy to ice down your shoulder without help. It's hard to get cold gel packs properly aligned on one's own shoulder, and pressed close enough to the skin to actually make the shoulder cold, with drugstore apparatus. I had been doing it for weeks before I finally threw up my hands in frustration, bit the bullet and bought this thing. This sling does a fantastic job. It's solidly built, with big hard plastic hardware; thick, wide straps; and tenacious velcro. And the chill pack is well constructed, too, with good velcro to keep it fixed to the inside of the sling.Although it works best with the included chill pack, I have also had perfectly acceptable results putting the sling on my arm, sliding a couple of rectangular gel packs I already had down into the sling, snugging the thing up on my shoulder and inflating the bladder. It's the bladder that really makes this thing great: the chill pack is not simply being held near the skin; it's being pushed ONTO the skin. The heat transfer is much more efficient this way.I would definitely recommend setting the arm straps ONCE, at a circumference that will slide onto the arm but will snug up once the bladder is inflated. If you try to reapply the straps every time you put the thing on your arm, I think it will tend to get frustrating, trying to keep the sling in position while trying to get the velcro right. The arm straps should definitely be treated as a "set it and forget it" kind of thing.I wish there were some clip somewhere on the sling where I could hang the bulb once I'm done inflating. Having the bulb swinging around in front of me is less than ideal. But it's not enough to detract from the overall usefulness of this product. 5I love itI just received this yesterday and started using it last night. I love it..I've had a problem for a few weeks with both shoulders having some rotator cuff type damage. I've gotten the right shoulder working good. But the left has been more of a problem. I'd been holding/balancing packages of frozen vegies under my shirt while playing video games and such. It was better than nothing. But with this I also get the "compression" benefit .When I first unpacked it I thought the directions were a little skimpy..for me..They're literally very small..don't lose the little red card. To me..its not an intuitive type assembly. There's a few belts and things and it took a little time for me to figure it all. Now its a slam dunk, and easy in every way. IMO its very well made and of high quality. I recommend it. 5Cold, Comfortable, and EffectiveI am a 5'3" female weighing around 135 lbs and the wrap fits me just fine with its adjustable straps. The O2 compression ensures a snug fit every time. I have a left shoulder injury (most likely a shoulder impingement) and I have been extremely satisfied with this shoulder wrap. It is easy to put on my left shoulder but I could definitely see how people could have difficulty with their right shoulder due to the orientation of the velcro straps. The cold pack gets very cold as long as it's left in the freezer for at least 2 hours between icings. My shoulder is well iced when I remove the wrap and I've noticed significant improvement in my condition since I've been using the wrap (about 1 month). I bought the wrap because I didn't like the idea of sitting in a stationary position for several minutes at a time using a regular ice pack. This one is very mobile and can be worn doing most things around the house. I highly recommend this wrap! 5
