Comfortableo.b. are basically German engineering in the form of a feminine product. They are, hands down, the most comfortable tampons I have used (and I tried a lot). Their outside is smooth and they don't fuzzy up (meaning, they don't leave you feeling like you'll eventually have to cough up cotton hairballs). Also, they hold their shaped when soaked with blood and are easy to remove. Most times, you actually don't feel they are there. Sure, o.b. have no applicator, but are those really needed? 5Best Tampon on the current marketThis is truly the best tampon I have ever used. Unfortunately, I have been using them since I was a young pre-teen. They do absorb well - make sure to buy a variety of sizes - recommend regular for the start of the cycle and then super for the second or third day, then super plus for the heaviest days. The combination package is the best value for the money and I put it on my subscribe and save orders to make sure I keep a consistent supply.For those of you that cannot deal with having to insert manually, this is not the tampon for you. It does not come with an applicator and therefore, is much better for the environment. But I do get it if you are too squeamish, then the typical Playtex or Tampax would be better for you. 5No more pain.I know that OB tampons get a bad rap for being applicator free. But consider this: they are designed by women so that means they are much more comfortable for us ladies. I used to buy regular tampons from tampax, and they killed me during my period. I always had extra cramps with them in. But these do not bother me at all!! They absorb well. Also, applicator free means LESS WASTE!! Get on the applicator free train. You will feel better physically and about your waste footprint. 5Too difficult to open the plastic. "New" design is miserable.What did they do to the plastic cover on these?! They are IMPOSSIBLE to open (each individual tampon), especially at night when I'm half asleep.I used to buy these years ago, and used them for DECADES, but stopped for a while because I was getting Tampax Pearls at Costco for a fraction of the price. I decided to go back to these since I rarely shop Costco anymore, but they are terrible! I have to concentrate extensively, and be extraordinarily patient to get the plastic off the tampon. If I hurry at all, it tears into three pieces and I can't get the remainder of the plastic off. I end up trying to bite it off sometimes, and a couple times I've just thrown the whole darn thing away and gotten another one out.This did NOT use to be a problem 10+ years ago, so something has changed, and I will NOT be buying these again. I like my sleep! Interesting note, my 76 year old mother happened to have one of the old design lying around last month and the plastic came off piece of cake! I don't know why anyone can stand these now. 1The best of the best of the bestGod bless my mother who introduced me to o.b. tampons when that lovely first visit from Aunt Flo occurred...and 16 years later, I still haven't found a tampon that compares. In school, other girls would scoff at the "grossness" of this non-applicator tampon that you had to insert yourself...how dare you actually TOUCH your own body - much better to use a big plastic wand to do that job (so 1930's) that then needs to be somehow put back in the packaging and thrown away discreetly (because ew - who wants to see a USED applicator). Not with OB...tiny plastic wrapper that can be wadded up into your pocket until convenient to dispose without a second thought is the only baggage it brings to the table. Not to mention you can fit one in your pocket almost completely unnoticed - yay! Think of all of the garbage this world would be spared if women would move away from feeling like they NEED applicators. Honestly, once you get over the initial change of getting it in, you'll love it! I never, EVER leak from bad placement with o.b. and can't say the same from other tampons that I've used in a pinch. And it never feels like someone is taking a battering ram to your cervix - you know, when you think your have your applicator in the right spot but were very wrong as soon as you send the missile out. Really, I can't say enough good things about these tampons so get over your insecurities because who has time for that anyway.As far as "FluidLock" vs "Silk Touch"...I hadn't seen the Silk Touch ones until the last 5 years or so and used the FluidLock until that time...but now that I've tried both, I HAVE to get the Silk Touch ones because they're just so much more comfortable coming in and going out. Works just as well too, but definitely harder to find (which is why I'm buying them on Amazon). The ultra-thin wrapping around the tampon keeps it from snagging/dragging/etc going it and it's never a tug-of-war battle when it's time to switch out. Pretty much the best invention ever and I can't imagine why they don't just switch all of them over to this style. Also, the "regulars" are usually good enough for me, but the supers are crazy absorbent when you need that extra protection. I'm super active - run, bike, swim, chase three wild children - and I don't ever have to think about these bad boys moving out of place or bailing on me. Did I mention they are super short too? It's amazing what this little powerhouse can hold versus some of the others I've had the unfortunate experience of using that are literally 3x longer (like holy-crap-I-feel-like-a-clown-pulling-out-endless-scarves, how-long-can-this-thing-be kind of long).Do yourself a favor and try these out. You won't look back. 5No leakingComing from England, I was used to Lillets. OB are the closest thing to them, as they both expand sideways instead of just absorbing. I've never understood tampax and used to have to wear a pad with them due to bleeding through (bit pointless, really). Also, detested the applicator as I've been pinched more than once by that (ouch!).I absolutely love that I can get boxes of several sizes through Amazon, as I can only buy one size in a box locally. The assorted sizes covers the cycle beautifully.And, as one other reviewer stated (from the few reviews I read), I can feel when I need to change. For me it gets a little uncomfortable, which does wake me up at night, so I can change and be good to go. 5Good for a back up!I would like to thank O.B. Tampons for sending this to try for free!First of all, these are a bit cheaper compared to my current choice for a tampon product (which happens to be tampax) . Not a huge difference- approx. a $0.75 saving per box where I live. So far, so good.The box itself is tiny, and the tampons inside are really tiny too! They also came with a very small compact container that holds approximately 5 of these tampons. The container itself fits in the palm of my hand. I have attached a picture of the tampon and the container to show to show you how small they really are.The tampons are individually wrapped for sanitary reasons, of course!The instructions are pretty simple and easy to follow.Wash your hands. Unwrap the tampon. Grab the string and pull it tight from left to right and top to bottom. Insert. Pull the string to remove.I currently use a product with an applicator and I have to admit that it was a bit messy inserting it a few times, but once you get the knack of it, it works pretty well. It has a string, just like a "regular" tampon to remove it, so it makes no difference in the removal process if you're a current tampon user.I have not had any leaks using this product at all, it does what it states.Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone who is considering to use it. It's a great discreet way to tug around tampons! 4Comfortable, very small, clean and effective.I've been using these for many many years and they beat any other type. The silk touch variety has been around much longer in Europe and I'm glad they are becoming more common in the US now. Much more comfortable to insert as they don't stick. They are small enough to fit into my jeans change pocket easily (you know, that tiny extra pocket you have on your jeans on the right side above the regular?). Regular size ones are for light flow days, normal for normal, super for heavy flow.I've never had any bleed through in decades as you can usually feel if they are reaching capacity - and usually if you halfway know your flow you can easily plan the right size. You should always replace a tampon after 8-10 hour max (!) though for hygienic reason and I've heard to my horror that some people use them for a day or more. That is unhealthy, your blood is perfect nutrition for bacteria, don't use larger sizes than needed so you can extend the time they are in the body!I'm not sure how people get "bloody fingers" either. If you pull it, the string is clean. If you insert it, you've wiped yourself before and the tampon seals and moves any material that would be still there. Just make sure when you go to pee that you move the string out of the way so it won't soak it by running into the tampon - but that should go without saying. 5Wondering What Makes them Comfy? Read on..None of the reviews here mention what makes these particular ones "Pro-Comfort" and what's so comfortable about them. Well, I'm going to explainEveryone already knows that OB's are small & have no applicator, so they are discreet, easy to carry and better for the environment.Regular OB Tampons are just plain cotton, whereas the "Pro Comfort" variety are wrapped in a silky smooth covering. It's kind of feels just slightly slick and looks like the covering of a pad that whisks away the moisture, kind of like an "Always" pad if that makes sense. The covering is micro-thin, though!This tampon is for any woman who has issues with dryness or light flow. With regular tampons, insertion can be difficult or painful if you are not well lubricated. This can happen, for example, if you are having a very light flow day or you are just dry in general, and because tampons absorb natural lubrication as well as menstrual flow. They can also be painful to pull out if they are dry, if they didn't fill up, or only fill up just on one side.Enter the Pro-Comfort! The wrapping around the outside of the cotton makes insertion and removal very smooth and very easy, no matter the lubrication level. No more pinching, pulling or trying to fit something where it's dry. (Ouch!) They expand exactly like the regular OB and there is no difference other than the micro-wrapping. They are indeed COMFORT in my book.So, if you've had issues like this with tampons in the past, I highly recommend giving these a try. I'm a big, big fan of OB for making these. My life changed for the better when these came on the market because before this I couldn't use tampons at all. THANK YOU OB! 5Not the sizes you may think you're gettingFirst of all, let me say that OB makes the greatest tampons in the world. BUT, this packaging is a LIE! Every OB user knows that green and yellow are the colors for "super" and "super plus," but if you look closely at this packaging, what you're actually buying here are the "regular" and the "super." (see my photo...what you actually get is on the left and what the package colors would indicate you're getting is on the right) It's just bizarre that their graphics department didn't go with the actual color that we associate with the product sizes when making this box. Regardless of what the print says, shoppers look at the colors and pictures first. Package FAIL. 1
