Customer Reviews

Ingredients have changed!Seriously disappointed... We have been buying and enjoying this product for years. Somewhere between our last purchase and the one we just received, the company changed the ingredients completely!! The previous version was 25 calories per serving and 6g of protein. The new one is just 10 calories per serving and only 1g of protein. =( I can't see any reason to buy this expensive box of nutritionally poor "flavored water" ever again. The new one even has "chicken flavor" and "cane sugar" in it. Whaaaaat??? No one who is health conscious wants those things in their food. So sad!!!1Tasty, gluten free, and super convenient!I use this Chicken Broth at least a few nights a week when making dinners. I can use it to add incredible flavor to sauces, risotto, crock pot meals, even heating up vegetables!. The broth has plenty of flavor and the low sodium version allows me to season the dish to my liking. The gluten free label is important to me as I am highly sensitive to gluten and have never become sick when using this product. I have been using this broth for years now and the quality is always great. The small one-cup size of the containers in this package is tremendously convenient; I never have to worry about broth going to waste because these are the perfect size for adding great flavor to one dinner at a time!5... rarely give a Review that I would consider the Best of the BestI rarely take the time to give a Review and even more rarely give a Review that I would consider the Best of the Best. This is one of them. "Pure" chicken flavor and I feel like health is streaming through my veins, I am not much of a "soup person" but I am becoming one thanks to high quality products such as this.. The only negative would be it is quite price-y and if not for that fact I would be drinking/eating it every day. Oh! And I've decided from now on when I DO post a Review...especially one with a 5-star rating such as this, that I will make it perfectly clear that I did NOT get the product for free nor at a reduced rate for my "honest" opinion. Those are Reviews I ignore and Amazon is saturated with such. I have already purchased two complete cases of this and will continue to do so.... as long as the company does not keep raising the price so that it becomes unaffordable.5Best quality for gluten free, antibiotic free, fat free, while supporting FOOD PANTRIES I can t eat gluten products. This product is what I can eat. Best quality, GLUTEN FREE, ANTIBIOTIC FREE. It s American quality. Plus this Company helps feed the poor at Local Food Pantries, feeding America while helping local farmers who donate food. All in all, best quality food while helping the poor. God bless them 5Not your average broth...This broth is tasty and works well with so many dishes. However, since my family was used to Swanson, we found recipes that we were used to tasted different. Although my taste buds are not smart enough to know what the difference was, I assume this comes from the combination of ingredients used to make this broth. The ingredients are listed here:Ingredients:Organic chicken broth (filtered water, organic chicken), Organic chicken flavor, Natural chicken flavor (chicken broth, salt), Organic evaporated cane juice, Autolyzed yeast extract, Organic onion powder, Turmeric, Organic flavor.Going organic I have had to make many adjustments and this is just another one but totally worth it. In the long run going organic is the best thing for our family and despite tasting different this broth is still delicious. Enjoy! Also, for those interested, from what I have read 'autolyzed yeast extract' is a type of MSG."The amino-acids contained in the Yeast Extracts result exclusively from the proteins present in food grade Yeasts (baker's or brewer's or lactic) which are used to manufacture the Extracts. Those amino-acids contain a large proportion of essential amino-acids, particularly lysine, together with glutamic acid. The Yeast Extracts contain a maximum of 18 % glutamic acid on the basis of the total protein content (total glutamic acid refers to both free glutamic acid and glutamic acid in small peptides). The free glutamic acid content is between 6 % and 13 % of the total protein content. This free glutamic acid, which is a natural component of Yeast Extract, plays a major role in its aromatic power. Glutamic acid, also referred to as monosodium glutamate (MSG) has flavor enhancing capabilities and is associated with Umami, the fifth taste sensation."-[...]4Easy and quick and good!My local grocery used to carry this brand but, like so many other healthy foods, they've stopped. They say they're willing to order for me, but that hasn't worked out well. I was pleased to find this product on Amazon (and on Prime, so free shipping for me - yippee!).The broth was delivered in a sturdy packing box, well packed and arrived with no damage. The products have a one-year shelf date, which is a relief. I've ordered other things in bulk that seemed to be far too close to the use-by date to be sold in bulk.I use chicken and vegetable broth a lot - more than I'd want to make homemade broth for, no matter how superior it might be (and it is). This is a reasonable substitute for maintenance foods - the soups that get me through the winter months, the casseroles that make up the bulk of my work lunches (and breakfasts, truth be told). The flavor is easily better than any of the major brands. If it's too bland for you, you can always add more salt, garlic or a bouquet garni. I personally like the less salty varieties like this because I can use it in less savory dishes, like pumpkin soup without it tasting overwhelmingly of chicken/pumpkin soup.In short, this broth is a busy cook's delight. Always make your own from scratch in you can and if you have freezer space to store it. If you're like me, with limited time and freezer space, this is the next best bet.5Some broken on arrivalI have used this product for several years and I do like it. Our Food Lion who use to carry it no longer does in this size so I ordered it here One container was broken upon delivery and it leaked on several other containers. When I tried to twist off the top of the leaking bottle to pour it down the drain, the plastic top simply came off without even turning, exposing the silver tape that was covering up the hole under the cap. This tape was only partly covering the hole. I then realized that three other containers were spongy at the top and I barely touched these tops and the same thing happened, i.e., the tops simply came off in my hand and this is the reason for only three stars. The box the broths came in was not damaged in anyway so I don't know if these where shipped already damaged or got damaged along the way. I do like the size of these containers and I don't waist near as much broth as I once did.3Using it for a few yearsWe have been using the Chicken and Veggie Broth for a few years now. You really can't beat the price when you use Subscribe and Save.I don't make soup much, but here are a few examples of how I use these: whenever a Crock Pot recipe calls for water, making rice, making quinoa, making couscous, no strain pasta dishes, really wherever a recipe calls for water, I look at adding some broth for extra flavor. You will need to add some salt to taste, but that is why we purchase the Low Sodium Varieties, others are way to salty for me.If this review has been helpful to you, please click "yes" and Amazon will let me know!4Very delicious worthy of being a soup baseWe absolutely love this broth. We have recently gone organic in our eating habits. This broth is delicious, rich and full of flavor. The usual brands of other broths are very salty(even lower sodium) and this one is not. We do add a bit of sea salt whenever we use this brand but very minimal. I stock up on this item through amazon subscribe and save every month. This small 8 ounce bottles are perfect also for making single size soups. I love to add frozen vegetables, brown rice or barley, and a pouch of chicken for a great lunch time meal for one. Like I said, we absolutely love this product. I highly recommend any of Pacific Brand Organic chicken broth or any of their broths.5Cost-effective and tasty base for making your own soups on the fly...As a soup lover who doesn't have enough time to regularly make batches of homemade soups, but who is not satisfied with either the ingredients or nutritional value of most canned soups (not to mention the horrificly high sodium levels), I'm always trying to make simple soups in one or two-serving sizes on the fly using packaged stocks (chicken or vegetable). It's very easy for me to add some steamed veggies (or beans) and seasonings to low-sodium chicken stock and then quickly heat and whirr (with my electric hand blender) up a healthy and tasty soup course. The only problem has been that I often did not want or need to use 32-ounces of the stock (the size of most aseptic packaged soup stocks) at one time. Although once opened, these 32-ounce packages can stay usable for maybe 10 days after opening, I still found myself throwing the unused contents out. Wasteful. These individually packaged small (8-ounce) sizes allow you to make just enough for a serving or two (depending on appetite) without waste. (Yes, you're paying a bit more in a cost-per-ounce comparison, but this is about convenience and avoiding waste.)Since I'm always adding my own seasonings (in dried or fresh form), the base flavor is not that important. In fact, I prefer a "neutral" or blandish stock so that it doesn't dominate the soup I"m making. I'm not saying this stock is tasteless, but if you're not used to low-sodium stock you're not gonna like any brand of it. (I use store generic brands as well as Pacific which I find tasty enough to heat up alone and sip if needed, especially in the winter. But again this is a stock and the base for building something. Not something that has a pronounced "taste/flavor" of its own. You will however, know that it is chicken and not vegetable stock.)Since I use chicken stock to flavor a lot of other dishes (including sauteed vegetables) instead of oils and butter, having small amounts available to use as needed is both convenient and cost-effective. (I would never use those horrible chicken boullion cubes and the only other alternative, a fairly tasty powdered mix from Vogue, is just too expensive in dry form and hard to find.)That the stock is organic is a big plus. That does matter to me.If you are not cooking for a crowd, but rather for one or two, and use chicken stock for soups or in other foods, these are something you'll want to keep on hand.FYI: They are hard to find in stock locally and are more expensive than amazon. It's another convenience and cost saver to be able to order them online.4
