Mild smelling lemongrass oil repels mosquitoes This fragrant lemongrass oil is an excellent product for a "make your own" body mosquito repellent spray. Same as with citronella oil, you must add a protective mixing oil (baby, olive, almond etc.), and though this is a smaller-sized bottle of 10 ml. than the citronella, pour its entire contents into a half pint sized spray or pump bottle, and fill the rest up with the mixing oil and shake, to make your own personal repellent. Lemongrass is the mildest-smelling of all bug repellent ingredients, you will not annoy your friends and family as with the rather stinky commercial products, and can enjoy the summer bite-free. 5Smells energizing The oil is great. I added it to a carrier oil and heated it over a candle. My room was feeling stale from being shut in over a long cold weekend and it instantly changed the energy in it. I give it one star less because it smells a bit medicinal at first which I didn't with some other lemon grass dilutes. But maybe I could use a different blend of oils to mask it 4Definitely an essential! Good quality!Oooooh man! Bathing in OFF Bug Repellent just doesn't work for me. I've been pretty fed up with the chemical bug sprays...they just didn't seem to work, smell awful and I don't trust all those ingredients that I can't pronounce. Furthermore I cringed every time I sprayed my kids with OFF too. I decided I wanted to try to make my own homemade repellent after reading several different recipes on Pintrest. The main ingredient is lemongrass essential oil, so I ordered from Plant Therapy based on their reviews. LOVE it! The smell is so light and refreshing, not to mention since I've started using it...no bug bites! NONE!Shipping was prompt, I received my order within 4 days with standard shipping. I ordered their lime oil too...but the bottle leaked about a 1/3 of it from the cap...when I received this bottle it was all good...no leaks...I was very happy with this shipment...so I don't know what happened with the lime one? I've never had any complaints about any oils that I got from them. It comes in an amber colored glass bottle with a stopper at the top to help control how much comes out at once.Lemongrass itself smells EXACTLY like you would assume it smells from the name. Lemon with just a hint of fresh cut grass.Mix it with Eucalyptus, Citronella, Bergamot, Tea Tree, catnip and distilled water. Use this mixture in a tea light warmer outside to ward off summer bugs. Or mix with water and witch hazel in a small spray bottle and spray on clothes to help prevent being eaten.I only have one warning about this item. If you are allergic to grass, be VERY careful using this!!!!!!!For some reason, it never occurred to me that I would be allergic to this. I know that I am so allergic to grass that I've ended up in the ER from mowing the lawn. Why it never occurred to me that I would be allergic to this as well, I don't know. I've used this numerous times in the tea light, and sprayed on my clothing, but I've never actually had any on my skin before. A couple of weeks ago, I added some to my hair cleanser. My scalp was on FIRE! And I didn't even own any shampoo to wash it out. I ended up scrubbing my head with soap, and then running cold water over my head for about 15 minutes. By the time I got out of the shower, I had tiny little blisters all over my scalp.So... my warning is this... if you have allergies, be sure to skin test any essential oil you use before adding it to any products that you use on your body. 4Poor packaging for the heat I love Plant Therapy and order often. My complaint is not with PT directly but more so amazon/ups. If you know Essential oils they are ruined in the heat. I met the UPS truck at our door so my oils would not be sitting in 94 degree heat. I opened the box and the package & oil bottle were super hot. We don t get our deliveries until about 3pm, so they sat in a hot truck all day. my oils is now ruined.... there should be some sort of packaging to guard against the heat in the summer. Lesson learned I will order only from the Plant Therapy site from now on. 2High quality essential oil for affordable price and good customer service. High quality essential oil. There was issue upon delivery but Plant Therapy customer service responded very fast and have correct the issue. I m very satisfy how their costomer service handle it. I can't say enough good things about their oils. I make all of my own creams, lotions and balms and pretty much exclusively use only Plant Therapy oils for consistency in my products. I have that blood type that the mosquitoes love so need something that smells nice but gives me bug protection.5Fly repellant Great product. I actually bought this as a fly repellant. Saw this doing a Google search for fly repellents. Mixed about 25 drops with a half cup of hot water and put into a spray bottle and sprayed around all our doors. There is a faint smell of lemongrass; however, its way overpowered by a rotten smell. When I use it in a diffuser my apartment smells awful. It gives me a headache and burns my eyes.
