Great once you find the right tensionI bought these for my wife due to flare ups with Plantar Fasciitis (spelling?) - these looked a little more comfortable than the big boot things. So far, so good. They seem to help a lot. It took a few nights to find the right tension (too tight & her toes went numb/hurt, too loose and it did nothing). One the spot was found, she left the strap alone & only removed the velcro strap at the top of the sock. The compression is not as tight as the good compression socks, but they are still tight (a comfortable tight, but not hard to put on). She's had them for a little over a month now. Only down fall is that you can only buy one at a time (she has problems with both feet) and they are pricey - but Amazon seems to have the best deals. It took some getting used to (for both of us) with the straps/velcro too, but not as bad as she thought it would be. 4If you have Plantar Fasciitis, try this sock firstIf you have Plantar Fasciitis, try this sock first. Skip the hard plastic boots, the cortisone shots, the podiatrist, anti-inflammatories pills, heck even the physical therapist. The next night I put a foot insert in and pulled up to a full 90 degrees and it didn't pull on my toes plus, the next morning, I could walk without pain. 5Great productHelps me with my Achilles' tendon soreness and plantar fasciitisI wear while watching tvReally helps stretch the muscles and tendons without working out 5Holding out hopeThe tension, at least for myself, is focused on the big toe and creates a hotspot. A few hours into the night and I wake up in pain and can't get them off fast enough. I keep being told to give them time and I'll get used to it, it's been a month now. They're at the lowest adjustment that I can get the hook & loop fastener to grip. They collect every piece of hair, fur and lint around and won't let it go. The instructions say to only spot wash, do not submerge in water. Pretty soon these things are going to look like furry boots. 3Helps with PlantarDealing with plantar is NO fun! I have a boot but of course it is not suitable for traveling. I carry this sock with me for airplane ride/sleeping so I can walk in the morning. It has worked out great! Just wish I was not having to use it, but well worth the purchase. It washes up nicely too. I did not put in the dryer. 5Muscle Stretch at night --- needs some augmentation.These aren't shoes, they are actually for wearing at night while you are sleeping. The concept is good -- but the design doesn't really work. I wore them for a couple of weeks until I could get into the podiatrist and the physical therapist. I supplemented them with an ace bandage that supported the ball of my foot toward the shin --- as the way this is set up it pulls on the big toe in an undesirable way. Not a cure, but it did help to stretch the muscles while I was asleep. 3It's definitely improving my PF. Not perfect.First off, this has been the first thing I've tried that has actually improved my PF after using it for a couple of weeks. It took a little bit of experimentation on how tight to make the Velcro straps (both around the area below my knee, and the tension strap for the toes.) If I made the strap too tight, my toes would start hurting or go numb in the middle of the night. Too loose, and I'd get out of bed with a little bit of PF pain. Adjusted just-right -- it's great! I am finally getting up out of bed in the morning with minimal pain.My biggest wish is that the tension/strap would allow for keeping the foot at the correct angle (for me is about 90-degree angle) without pulling back my toes so much. It would be a lot more comfortable if my toes could remain a little bit straighter instead of bent back so much. But I don't know how possible it would be to develop a sock that could do that -- without ending up being a bulky hard plastic boot-thing.All in all, spending a few dollars on this sock has gotten me better results without having to pay hundreds of dollars for podiatrist office visits or physical therapy appointments. 4at toe area it would shift out of position and my big toe would be cut off from proper blood circulation to wake me up in greatI bought the smallest size they make. Still too large but I am short and my feet small so it was no surprise that I might have to figure out a few modifications. Too much sock for my short leg and about 3 hrs into the night it either slides down and tension is lost. Or ,at toe area it would shift out of position and my big toe would be cut off from proper blood circulation to wake me up in great pain. Solution: Wear lightweight low cut sock which took care of the sock sliding down to lose tension. Next, I traced foot on piece of cardboard (corrugated ) and again with ribbing going the opposite way.Cut out and place on top of each other and slide them down to tip of sock and you're good to go. It works great and I wear it about 5 nights a week. I bought this instead of the bulky ones or brace styles because I travel a lot and needed something that takes up as little room as possible in suitcase/carry on. 4Flawed design. Only stretches toes.I purchased this item at the recommendation of my physical therapist, for the purpose of stretching my ankle. However, the item does nothing of the sort.It's pulling up, directly from the end of the toe. This means that all of the force is exerted only on the toes. At first, it's painful, then my toes go numb. I can relieve the pressure by consciously bending my foot up, but the sock does none of that, for me. I never bothered wearing them overnight.For this item to work, it would need to apply most of the torque from the ball of the foot. 1Really helped relieve my plantar faciaitis very quickly.I greatly prefer these socks to the hard boots. I roll around at night and usually manage to pull my foot out of the hard boots. These stay on all night. I followed the advice of another reviewer and put in some foot bed inserts from a pair of shoes I had and it better distributes the traction to my whole foot rather than focus on the toes. I experienced great improvement and reduced pain literally overnight and with continued use see noticeable continued improvement. 5
