STABILIZING BOOT FOR HEELINGThis boot stabilizes my ankle and forefoot so my 4th fractured toe can heel. My previous boot could not be tightened enough to prevent movement. I wear a 10.5 woman s shoe and the medium is perfect for me. I ordered a backup because I may have 4 more weeks in this.5Stabilizes my foot to heal from stress fractureI purchased this because of what I believe to be a stress fracture in my foot. This has stabilized my foot while it is healing. I actually bought two of this item. I wear a size 9 ladies shoe normally. The first I ordered was a size Medium and it was just a bit too big for my foot so I felt that I looked too much bigger than the other foot, and that it flexed just a little when I walked. The second was a size Small and although my big toe extends just a tiny bit, it doesn't seem to flex when I walk. It works better for me. If my injury had been on my toe, the extra length would have been necessary.5Received Worn/Used Shoe. Unacceptable.I was looking forward to receiving this shoe due to my foot injury. When the item arrived the actual shoe was scrunched up in the box and there were noticeable signs of dirt/wear on the sole. I also noticed a foot print on the inner sole....not to mention the random shower caps I received in the box. Who does that? I paid for a new shoe not a used one. Unacceptable. Returning.1It served it's purpose and was a great price for what I neededI wear a women's size 10-11 and with a sock, this boot fit perfectly when I broke my 5th metatarsal. I have a tennis shoe that is almost the same height to wear on the opposite foot, otherwise my back and hips are killing me after about an hour. Definitely can't just wear it alone around the house. It served it's purpose and was a great price for what I needed. Helped speed up the healing process (as I waited a month before getting this thinking that it would just heal on it's own) by keeping the foot totally supported and toes still while walking. Great product.5Awesome for 5th metatarsal fractureI broke the 5th metatarsal on my right foot about 8 weeks ago. After getting the all clear from my doctor, I started transitioning from the walking boot I'd been in to shoes. I bought another brand of post op, stiff soled shoe and it was awful. I bought this shoe as a replacement and it's a million times better!I wear a women's 9.5 or men's 8-8.5 and this shoe is about an inch longer than my foot (ideal to protect you from subbing your toes!). The ankle strap is super long and adjustable (you can see in the photos it's a little too long for me, but that portion of my foot is narrower than average). The rocker sole has some flex, but is much more rigid than a regular shoe and is very grippy. I'd compare it traction wise to hiking shoes (though it has a flatter tread). I like the wide velcro over the instep as this is where my break is and it disperses the pressure of the shoe across my foot. The material is very good quality.I can drive and walk without pain with this shoe, which I'm unable to do with regular shoes at this point. I'm so glad I found this and the price is unbeatable!5Lifesaver for my broken 5th metatarsal!!I broke my 5th metatarsal and my doc stuck me in an aircast boot. I was miserable and was starting to get bruises on my shin just from walking. So I took a chance and bought this post-op shoe. It has been a welcome relief. I try to stay in the boot as much as possible and use this shoe to get a break. I use the shoe to walk at home, in the shower and to sleep in.I'm a size 9.5-10 and the medium fit perfectly. The shoe is wide to accommodate any swelling and the long velco straps for the ankle can be trimmed as needed. It is sturdy and well made with a stiff heel that has a slight curve on the bottom to keep pressure off the foot. The velcro straps allow for a custom fit. According to the enclosed manual the shoe is latex-free.My advice: BUY TWO! That way your heels are even which prevents any hip pain. The price is so good (I paid $13 per shoe) that you can get 2 of these for the price of 1 of other brands. Please note that I am not a medical professional and this shoe may not be advisable for your condition.Good luck on your healing journey!!5Don't get the negative reviewsI was leary if making this purchase due to the negative reviews regarding quality and fit. I am glad I didn't listen to the. I wear a size 8 1/2 women's shoe and ordered the medium according to the size chart. It fits perfectly. My foot/ toes are protected (as they need to be) well. Yes, there is about an inch to an inch and a half extra length, but that is needed for PROTECTION. As for the quality, it is well made and I have been wearing mine every day since I received it. I had to order this because my dog chewed up the one my Ortho gave me which was billed to my insurance company to the tune of $125. If I ever need another post-op device, and walking boot of any kind, I will order it off Amazon.5Cannot tighten the front panel enough for walking.I am active and strong (not even a senior yet) but still cannot make the adjustable front Velcro panel tight enough, otherwise it would work fine. This is the 3rd type of ortho-post-op shoe I have used. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this one because it's not possible to get the front of my foot wrapped tight enough to avoid minor slipping around. After one day my foot had cramped muscles across the top of it and it took four days to massage and stretch it out. I am in my second month of wearing an ortho-shoe as my broken 5th metatarsal mends and can do a great deal of activity walking around and working. The break is in an odd area causing a slow mend and I'm pleased to avoid surgery, however, I need a second shoe to keep the sole firm and tight after so much use and this will not do. The one that is similar with two individual straps does work, so I I'm tossing this one out (it doesn't seem right to donate something that I know may hurt someone's foot more). For the 5th metatarsal the square toed shoe is helpful to prevent tipping of the foot. If you are only moving about the house, this would be okay.2Great product from a fracture pro! This product works great for broken toes or broken feet. It is a great transitional product from a cast or boot, although I ordered the shoe immediately.I have had numerous "adventures" with foot surgery, falls, etc, & have broken the 5th metatarsal on each foot. I know the difficulties of using a heavy orthopedic boot both as a nurse AND a patient; they're a pain to get on & off, they're VERY heavy, & it is painful to slide the foot back into the boot. This shoe was SO much better as soon as it arrived!!!!I cannot tell you that it was as supportive because it isn't. It lacks the steel rods on the sides of the ankle, so if you need to keep the foot from rotating (i.e. a sprain or a metatarsal fracture) this may not work early on.But this was like a breath of fresh air for my broken foot. It slides right on to get out of bed in 2 seconds, & it doesn't hurt to GET it on.The Velcro holds it tight, & it has worn well; I've been in it 2 weeks.Fractures hurt like Hell, as anyone who has had one knows. Time & stability are what help the pain. This shoe is great for the price; the sizing was correct, & it is not HOT & heavy. The best part is that it's not killing my back from the rocking motion of having one hip significantly higher than the other.I wish I had one of these with any of the other fractures I have lived through; great shoe!5Works great for around the house.Definitely don't regret this purchase. Much easier to get around the house with this smaller shoe. And I can drive with it on compared to the big boot. It doesn't completely hold my foot enough for long walks but does the job walking around short times. But use the big boot still when I'm cleaning and moving a lot in my house and especially at the store and things. The velcro is a little difficult to get tight at 1st but got the hang of the best way to get it tight. I wear a size 10 woman shoe and fits great. Wouldn't go recommend for smaller than a 8. 5 because your toes would be right where the velcro hits. The strap on the back part of the shoe (right below the ankle) was very long. I needed to cut off an inch because it would get caught and loosen the strap.4
