Seems to do what I bought it for.My son, who has never been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, still displays some Autistic tendencies. This is actually something that seems to run in my family with the men, just prior to puberty. Then when puberty hits, it seems to go away. When he gets overstimulated or has had a stressful day, he makes loud humming, explosive noises that serve the purpose of helping him to de-stress. That said, it's very annoying and also, he's already kind of the "weird kid" at school due to having some hearing loss that causes his voice to sound funny to the other kids. It is very hard for him to keep it together while at school, so he does not make those inappropriate noises and draw more attention to himself. The end result is that he comes home and makes them for hours to get them out of his system. He was also having trouble falling asleep every night due to being "scared" for reasons he could not explain. "Just scared." Nothing in particular he could point to. He was experiencing generalized anxiety. His dad suffers from this as well. The lack of sleep was very concerning to me. It was so bad that at 10 years old, we were occasionally have to resort to a Benadryl to help him get to sleep on school nights, after hours of relaxation techniques did nothing. I found this and, based on the reviews of others with children who have similar issues, decided to try it.We have been through three or four bottles now. Honestly, I only notice that it's working when my son starts relentlessly making those noises and I ask him when the last time he took his "relaxing vitamin" was. His answer is always, "Oh, I forgot. I haven't taken it since yesterday (or some similar timeline)". If he misses a dose or two, the noises come back. As long as he's taking it, every once in a while, I might hear him make a small sound briefly, but then he stops. If he stops taking it or misses doses, he again has difficulty falling asleep due to fears he cannot put a name to and he begins loudly and relentlessly making self-stimulating noises.He has to take the max (2 tablet) dose twice per day to get the effect. He weighs close to a hundred pounds, so that may be why. We started him out at one tablet before bed and that seemed to help the anxiety somewhat but it wasn't really cutting it. It wasn't until we upped him to 2 tablets twice a day (three times a day is the max) that we noticed the noises stop and the nightly trouble falling asleep ceased.He has not experienced any side effects of sleepiness during the day, or any other side effects that we can tell, which was my biggest fear in giving him a supplement that was unfamiliar to me. It's pricey, no doubt, but the benefits are worth it to me. I can avoid taking him to the doctor and running the risk of getting him a diagnosis that will follow him for life and possibly put on meds that could cause permanent side-effects like facial tics. He's a very smart kid who does well in school and this was a good alternative to medical intervention.My son doesn't seem to mind the taste, but I do wish it came in swallow tablets. The tablets are about the size of a quarter but also slightly thicker so they cannot be swallowed. I suppose you could break them into fourths and try to swallow them but I don't know.5perfect for the IT guykeeps me calm at work so i dont slap someone silly5Works great for insomnia, anxiety and as a muscle relaxerI first tried their chewable GABA and loved it. It helped with falling asleep at night. These looked similar and so I decided to try them and not only was I able to fall asleep with these but I could take them when I was feeling anxious and/or when I needed something to help me relax tense muscles. They taste good too! I will be ordering more, when I run out. I think I like these even better than the GABA.5Great help for anxiety attacks and nerve pain!Following two cervical spine surgeries I suffer unimaginable nerve pain over my entire body. This brings on terrible bouts of anxiety and loss of sleep. The only prescription I take is 400 mg Gabapentin twice per day. My granddaughter recommended the Suntheanine chewable tablet to me as a "chill pill" which a roommate had shared with her at college for stress relief. I ordered the product at her recommendation thinking "what the heck?" Am I ever thankful! I chew one tablet in the morning and another before bed along with the Gabapentin. It took about a week for my body to adjust as I was a little more sleepy in the beginning. This supplement has helped tremendously with the horrific mood swings and anxiety attacks, as well as helping the nerve pain and helping me to sleep so much more soundly. The only caveat is that it stopped working after a year use and I upped the dose to two then three tabs per day. I originally started off with one tab, but it lost it's effectiveness. What I understand with supplements is the body get use to them after a while and you have to rotate them. I will revisited this one again after giving it a break for a while.5It worked for me!I has trouble sleeping. A psychiatrist recommended this product to help with stress that he was certain was affecting my sleep. He was right. I have great sleep for over two months now. I highly recommend trying this product for anyone who can t shut their brain off in the evening hours. Oddly enough it doesn t make you sleep and this product can be used during the day for stressful times, as well . It s a win!5Work great but be cautious about taking long termI took Suntheanine for about a year for anxiety. They worked great at first but I did feel like I built up a tolerance after several months and they were no longer as effective. Due to this, I decided to stop taking them. I know everyone says these are non-addictive with no side effects but I DID have withdrawal symptoms such as chills, fever and mood swings for about a week after I discontinued taking these. I still will take them as needed when I am feeling particularly anxious and they work great; just be cautious about taking them everyday.4Amazing for Stress and AnxietyI really like this product. I turned to this when my son's 3rd grade teacher was going crazy around standardized test time as usual. My son is a normal, active 9 yr old boy and is a target every year just before standardized tests, along with many other boys that I know, for diagnosing and medicating because they are at risk for not doing well on the tests. Having worked in the healthcare field and understanding how the education systems works, I will take my son's well being into my hands. Despite my son getting all A's and some B's, I decided to see if this would take the edge off for him during the day when the schools have them sit pretzel legged for hours. I did do a lot of research on supplements to help calm children and kept coming back to L-Theanine and magnesium. When I bought this product, I did see a difference within about a 1 - 1/2 weeks. Nothing earth shattering but enough to get him through the school day and standardized test time in a bit more relaxed mode. I don't give it to him all of the time, just around times that I think he can benefit from it. I gave it a four star because the taste isn't the best but he chews it up and drinks something afterwards.4Took a chance and seem to pay offI ve been giving these to my son who s on the spectrum for a few months now. I waited to write a review until I knew how they affected him. I must say these do a decent job regulating his moods in the morning. I been giving him one tablet so far but I think I need to increase it to two since he s been growing. Theanine seems to be lacking with people on the spectrum and I wanted to try a natural remedy first. I must say I m pretty satisfied with the outcome. I do notice a difference when he forgets to take it. Even his neurologist approved and she s one of the top specialist in the country. I would definitely advise any parent giving this to their child to discuss with their doctors first. This is not a quick fix nor an end all to medications. I m not a fan of pharmaceutical meds but if my child needed it I would not be against it.4
