I have an inversion (rolling) ankle injury; 4x's in ...I have an inversion (rolling) ankle injury; 4x's in 6 months; multiple (20+) sports and daily activity injuries on same knee and ankle. Received product today while at work; I immediately started wearing for 1 hour it's exactly as promised because I started a hydro therapy routine it is sore; follow instructions about insert. Note: similar to wearing ski boots I wear a 7.5 - 8 US size shoe and 5' 3.5" in height. Once I took off boot I able to ascertain on top my feet where it rubs and too loose where I had to add padding on order to accurately fit; they provide the extra pads to insert. 4SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN A TALL BOOTMy daughter broke her foot. We bought this short fracture boot to replace the tall boot she was given in the ER. Please note that she was not permitted to put weight on her foot, so she did not walk in this walker fracture boot . Weird, I know, but non-ambulatory folks get the same boot!PROS:- so much less annoying than the tall boot that she switched immediately: - 3 straps instead of 5 - straps not unmanageably long - velcro sturdy but not too hard to peel apart- boot easy to open and close- liner easy to remove- 3 straps- she was able to navigate this boot independently; not so the taller oneCONS:- literally heavier than her tall boot- doesn t really protect the foot from getting hit (like a solid plastic one would)- came with 4 extra pads, 2 of which were crumpled; I can never figure these out, anywayHOT TIPS:- One reviewer said they didn t know what the sewn-in pad was for. She had the same one in the tall boot. You place it across the top of the foot to protect it from being rubbed against by the shin part of the boot.- We ve been told by 3 different doctors that she doesn t need to wear a boot while she sleeps - unless she s at risk of getting up at night. She is. In that case, there is a risk of forgetting about the broken foot and just getting up. Wearing the boot can serve as a reminder. We realized that just wearing the liner is reminder enough.- To keep the liner from getting sweaty (especially at night), wear a sock.BOTTOM LINE: Much more manageable than a tall boot. Everything about this boot makes it easier to wear, use, and take on and off. That last point is important, because you don t want it to be so hard to open that you re moving your poor foot around! Visible cat hair inside the boot as well. AND scuff marks on the side of the boot as if purchased in REALLY used condition. Grossed out. 1Use the measurement of your foot, not your shoe size.I wear 7.5 M to Wide shoe & the extra small fits perfect.The Small was too long & with the curved bottom on the boot it was difficult to walk. Be sure to measure the length of your foot & compare the length to the size chart rather than your regular shoe size otherwise that curve will mess you up & you'll trip over the toe of the boot. 5The size chart is wrongI wear women's size 9 to 9 1/2. The size chart is WRONG. There's no amount of adjusting the fit that will snug the medium enough to fit my foot and ankle. It's just a soft liner with zero support in it held in place by the ankle strap. The top of the boot is not tight enough for me, even pulled all the way closed. I used every cushion included and my foot just slid around in this. It sticks out almost two inches past my big toe. If you've got big calves, a high foot, and a really wide foot, this might work for you.I made this five stars because I hope other women don't get fooled by the size chart. Go read the one star reviews.Construction seems sturdy, and the liner is soft. 5Good for toe injury, not supportive for anklesThis is a pretty good boot. I jammed my toes doing yoga of all things. They are black and blue and I needed something to keep the weight on my heels while walking and this boot did the trick! I can walk normally again until my toes heal. This rubs on the front of my shin when I walk, so I don't see myself going for a hike or long walks. But it's great for daily activity.I noticed this has little to no ankle support, so if that's what you are looking for this isn't the boot for you.On sizing, I wear a women's 6.5 or 7 and I ended up getting the XS. I am glad I did. My toe is at the VERY end of the boot, but that's OK. I am guessing a small would be at least an inch too long. 4Hallelujah! A Solution for Holding an Ice Pack on My Foot After Exercise / Physical Therapy!I am currently undergoing physical therapy for severe Plantar fasciitis and a bone spur that pokes up into my Achilles tendon. The therapy is designed to stretch and strengthen the surrounding muscles and tendons. So far, it has been pretty effective, with the next step, if the therapy isn't enough, being some serious surgery to remove the bone spur, with downtime in a cast for 16 weeks. The therapy consists of exercises that do cause a bit of pain and discomfort on their own, which requires icing down the ankle and heel area afterwards, just as playing tennis or hiking through the woods, or even going on a long walk requires.The problem with the icing, though, is that the long, narrow ice pack designed to wrap around the foot is quite difficult for me to secure correctly. My Physical Therapist said to put it in a pillowcase and tie it around my foot. I just can't get that to work. I've also tried securing it with an Ace bandage, but that is hard as well, since I am pretty inflexible and tall (this is part of the underlying cause of the Plantar fasciitis and bone spur).After seeing someone in a walking boot, I decided to try ordering one so that I could put the ice pack in the boot, then my foot in the pillow case, then tighten the boot around the ice pack.It works great! I ordered the XL boot even though my foot is a large size. Now I can comfortably wear the ice pack, and even walk around if I feel like it. Now I'm icing more frequently, and this makes doing my Physical Therapy exercises far more comfortable.Pros: Inexpensive and built for wear outside and inside Velcro straps and padding hold the ice pack securely LightweightCons: None 5Great Quality and price!I'm a director of rehab and work in physical therapy. All our supply companies were back ordered on walking boots, so I took a chance and ordered this one for a patient. I'm amazed at the quality. The fit is great and it has been very durable-has stood up to weeks of walking in a skilled nursing facility. Definitely recommend! 5Too loose, runs big, sole is slipperyI bought this as an alternative to my giant boot. I have PTTD, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. I had surgery 4 years ago and felt healed until I decided to work at a seminar where I was on my feet in flat sandals for several hours and woke up the next day with that old familiar pain.The big boot is what my doctor gave me. I bought this one to wear in places where the big one isn't feasible.This boot feels and looks very similar to the one my surgeon gave me. The materials it's made of are almost identical at first look. However, the boot runs very big. I measured my foot according to the manufacturer instructions and it's at least a size, maybe size and a half too big. The velcro doesn't pull tight enough, so the boot is very loose and uncomfortable. The sole rocks like my prescription boot, but just in the center is a slick part which is VERY treacherous on my floors at work, where I am wearing this. The inside "sock" part jumbled all around and feels lumpy. Now I'm stuck with a too big, uncomfortable, dangerously slippery boot, or back to wearing the tall one. It feels like I'm wearing a clunky rubber brick on my foot instead of a protective cradle that will allow me to heal.Another negative is the instructions are unclear. Yet another negative is that the inside heel feels hard, definitely not a much padding as my prescribed boot. It does come with extra pads but no instructions on how to use them.This boot only looks like the kind you'd get from your doctor or medical supply company with an rx. But I absolutely do not recommend it, the quality is poor and they don't accept returns so you're stuck with it. 1Be prepared to modifyWas used for treatment for a 5th metatarsal stress fracture. Orthopedist approved it for this use. Needed to use a dense foam pad (tri-folded) in the front so the straps weren't too irritating. Also needed to use a gel shoe insert to cushion the heel. With these two modifications, this was fine. Should really ship with a large foam pad to provide protection and cushioning between the front of the foot and leg and the straps. That would make it a 4, and if it came with a gel insert for the hindfoot and mid-foot, it would be a 5. The woman's small felt too big for a woman who usually wears size 6.5-7 shoes. 3
