not a coffee snobI am not a coffee snob. If they can get into a cup, I can usually get it out. Knowing that...I am a cost driven consumer. I shop at my local grocery, and try what they have under $6-$8/12oz. I have never been able to justify the really expensive stuff because...well, just cheap I guess. With that being said, I purchased my first 2lb of Verena dark roast, and it was quite good. So I got another 2lb. Drank that, then decided I wanted to try the medium roast...it was good too. When I say good, I mean it comes out of my coffee maker (a Ninja brand maker) pretty delicious. I drink my coffee black, or sometimes put some heavy cream in it and agitate. This coffee is very good. The coffee is not bitter. Has a very nice, bold taste, and good aroma. At this price point, it is a very good coffee and I like to drink it. I read other reviews about oily-ness of beans and other things that I should probably worry about when I retire, but until then I am going to get a few more bags of this coffee. And drink it.5Very mild coffee - not for meMy favorite coffee does not come in a decaf version, so I have been searching for a Swiss Water Process Decaffeinated coffee with similar attributes. So far, no luck. The Verena Street Sunday Drive sounded promising as so many reviewers love it. However, I found it pretty disappointing. The first thing I noticed upon opening the bag was the lack of a fresh coffee aroma. The second was the color of the ground coffee very lightly roasted. I couldn t believe this was the coffee everyone was so enthusiastic about. I use an individual pour-over method so I prepared a cup of this decaf the same as I do for my regular coffee. No fresh coffee aroma as I slowly covered the ground beans with hot water. Ditto when I removed the lid of my pour-over funnel, which normally brings forth a wonderful coffee-infused steam. The taste was as I expected at this point: dull and bland. I have given this coffee 3 stars as I don t want to discourage others who do enjoy a very mild cup. Plus the coffee had no bitterness, which may also appeal to them.3My first One Star ReviewThe coffee is suppose to be a medium roast but was VERY dark. Did not even have that pleasant coffee smell when opening the bag. I can only describe it as Yuck! I'll be using it to fertilize my roses.1A surprisingly good cup of coffee, but it didn't give me the urge to tip cattle. This was a surprisingly good coffee. We purchased this for our yearly Pastoral Christmas open house. It was selected based on being one of the best reviewed products on Amazon, having a catchy name, and being a medium roast which seems to be what the average coffee drinker in my area prefers (though I am a dark roast person myself). We had over sixty guest attend and most wanted to try it, I think that this was related in part to the catchy name which I had hipped a little in advance. Several people looked up the product on their phones while still at our house in order to purchase it. If that isn't a sign of a good product I don't know what is.With Regard to the Coffee itself, what surprises me most is that it claims to have 3 different flavors present and I can actually taste each of them distinctly. My typical experience with flavored coffee is that it fails on one of two fronts; either it is so overwhelmed by the flavoring that it doesn't taste like coffee anymore, or it says it has multiple flavors but only one can actually be tasted. In the case of Cow Tipper all three flavors are notably present, well blended, and yet still exist as a compliment to the coffee flavor. This is notable accomplishment. Finally, and most importantly, I will note that this product has failed on one front. After drinking it I did not wake up in the middle of the night feeling the urge to tip cattle. I live in rural area and have plenty of opportunities, but the urge didn't arise. I haven't heard any cow tipping stories from my guest yet either, so near as I can tell, it may not be living up to its name. ;-)5Wrong orderMy friend gave me a link to the coffee on this site that he thought I would like based on our swapping coffee experiences. I opened the link that he provided me, it seemed to be what we talked about, but I didn't want two pounds of it, so I tried to switch to one lbs. of coffee just to check it out. Your site sent me: 1) ground coffee; 2) flavors all over the map that smelled to high heaven. I want whole bean, dark roast. How I got guided to the coffee I got in 1 click -- maybe two of the options I was given -- I'll never know. Call it user error. Call it bye-bye to this site. I've giving him the coffee I got.1DisgustingI've been trying different brands of Swiss water process decaf. If I feel like grinding beans, Don Pablo is better than a lot of caffeinated coffees. Unfortunately, I don't always feel like going to that extra trouble, due to severe chronic pain. If Don Pablo's whole bean is so good, there must be a really good ground coffee, right? Well, this isn't it. This is the worst tasting coffee I've ever tried. Any store brand, chemically decaffeinated, coffee would probably be better. I've suffered through some bad cups of coffee, but I just couldn't force myself to drink this stuff. I can't describe just how nasty it tasted.1One of my favorites. This is some of the best coffee I've ever had. It's actually a medium roast with flavor. Most flavored coffees I've tried seemed like the focus was on the additional flavor with coffee being an after thought. This is different, you taste the coffee first with hints of caramel, butterscotch, and hazelnut. Caramel and hazelnut flavor in coffee usually overpower my taste buds but not this time. I think they have found the perfect ratio of these flavors. I will be buying this again.5Disappointing, awful tasteI don t like to give negative reviews especially when, most likely, roasting coffee at Verena Street is a labor of love but this coffee tastes terrible (Cow Tipper). As soon as you open it, what you smell is candy, not coffee. And therein I believe is the problem, meaning I assume it s the additives that make it taste so bad. This coffee received excellent reviews; I am assuming it s because people usually put sugar, milk or half-and-half in their coffee. We drink our coffee black. The coffee has to stand on its own because it s not going to get any help from sugar or milk. So it wouldn t go to waste (i.e., thrown out), we mixed it with Starbucks House Blend, about a 50/50 ratio and that was good. If you like your coffee black, I wouldn t recommend, otherwise worth a try.2At Last! A Decent Decaf! For the coffee snob, there is no conceivable way to take the caffeine out of the bean and have the roast taste the same. There is an edge to the flavor that caffeine provides that can't be replicated when you remove it.That being said, this is as close as I have found in over 20 different brands. I'm not sure what you call this flavor, but I've found it in brands like Copa Vida, Reformed Roasters, and Dunkin Donuts, and Coda Ethiopian, so if you don't like those you won't like this. For me, this is almost like a dream come true. I love coffee, but I'm very caffeine sensitive. I bought this to try out a coffee that uses the "swiss water method" of decaffeination I don't really know if it makes a difference, but I don't feel like I need to keep searching for a good decaf as this has answered my quest for excellent taste. Best part is that I can drink this all day long and not climb the walls or have my heart feel like it's going to blast out like an alien at any minute.I only use the pour-over method, so I'm not going to say it would be fantastic through an automatic drip machine. I haven't used one of those for years. I'm just saying that out of all the brands I've tried, this is the only one that I have truly enjoyed on nearly the same level as Coda, Copa Vida, or Reformed Roasters. And if you're drinking Folgers or Maxwell House, this decaf is nearly 4000 times better so give it a try.5Not goodNot impressed at all. Most coffee at least smells good... this literally doesn t even smell like coffee. Very disappointed in the quality/flavor. I was excited to find Swiss water decaf, as I m currently pregnant and avoiding chemicals (normal decaf) and caffeine. I may actually toss this whole bag though. A waste.1
